Today, Wednesday, September 16, at 11:00 a.m, Toho Co., Ltd. (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Hiroyasu Matsuoka) unveiled the designs and backstories for all eight new monsters for the "TOHO Presents New Monster General Election" (TOHO presents 新怪獣総選挙, TOHO presents Shin Kaijū Sō Senkyo) project, which aims to create a new kaiju to stand alongside the globally popular King of the Monsters, Godzilla, starting today, September 16th (Wed), at 11:00 AM. Public voting has also begun.
■ About The "New Monster General Election" (「新怪獣総選挙」について)
The Godzilla series, which began with the 1954 film GODZILLA (ゴジラ, Gojira), and the history of Toho monster movies in general, has featured a diverse cast of kaiju faced off against the overwhelming “King of the Monsters,” Godzilla, and at times even fought alongside him, weaving their own unique stories. These monsters were not merely antagonists; each possessed a one-of-a-kind charm, etching their names into monster history alongside Godzilla.
This "TOHO presents New Monster General Election" is a major project born from the desire to create a new monster that will carry on the legacy of these fascinating kaiju and leave its own mark on monster history! It's a participatory general election where the public will vote from eight new monster candidates to determine the winner! The new kaiju that takes first place in the voting is scheduled to appear in the live-action special effects film short, “Fes Godzilla,” (フェス・ゴジラ, Fesu Gojira), which will premiere at the 2027 edition of the annual “Godzilla Fest” event hosted by Toho every November 3rd (Godzilla Day). This is truly a dream project where you can witness the monster you supported and voted for actually facing off against Godzilla on screen. Your vote will be the birth cry of a new monster challenging Godzilla!

Ancient Insect Monster Gigasecto (古代昆虫怪獣 ギガセクト, Kodai Konchū Kaijū Gigasekuto)
Height: 74m Weight: 26,500t
An insectoid monster that had been slumbering underground in the Amazon rainforest for 65 million years. In its larval stage, it absorbed nutrients over an incredibly long period, growing to a gigantic size as it developed into a pupa. Possessing an extremely fierce fighting spirit, it sensed the presence of a being stronger than itself—namely, Godzilla. Evolving into an adult with a hardened exoskeleton, it emerged onto the surface.
Special Attack: Sonic Blade
Unleashes a vacuum blade that slices through spacetime from its sonic claws, which also double as predatory weapons. Boasting immense destructive power, it can bisect 50 massive tankers in an instant, and even a mere graze is enough to shatter all structures in the surrounding area.身長：74m 体重：26,500t

Waste Monster Candyroy (廃棄物怪獣 キャンディロイ, Haiki-mono Kaijū Kyandiroi)

Special Attack: Particle Cannon
When Candyroy raises its arm, a portion of the matter gathered to form its body is converted into particles and drawn out of its body, taking the shape of an energy-charged sword. Bringing it down with force generates a massive shockwave that inflicts heavy damage even on distant targets. It can adapt its firepower depending on the situation, ranging from rapid-fire attacks by swinging its left and right arms alternately, to a maximum-output finisher launched after leaning its upper body far back to charge particles to the limit.身長：0～55m ※微生物状態〜巨大化時

キャンディロイが腕を上げると、身体を形成するために集められた物質の一部が粒子化して体外に引きずり出され、エネルギーを帯びた剣の様な形状となる。それを勢いよく下ろすことで生じる強い衝撃波は、離れた位置にいる対象へも大きなダメージを与える。左右の腕を交互に振ることで放つ連射攻撃や、上体を大きく反らして粒子を限界までチャージしてから放つ一撃必殺の最大出力など、状況に応じて威力を使い分けることができる。

Planet Raid Monster GILX (惑星襲撃怪獣 ギルクス, Wakusei Shūgeki Kaijū Girukusu)

A ferocious and brutal space monster that has attacked and destroyed various planets since ancient times. It devours natural resources such as gas and minerals, as well as energy like light, heat, and electricity, reducing planets to "Dead Worlds." Having annihilated countless worlds, GILX sensed an unprecedented surge of power emanating from Earth. The source of this power is the immense energy contained within Godzilla's body. GILX descends upon Earth to consume both its natural resources and Godzilla's power.
Special Attack: Planet-Destroying RayA beam attack in which GILX compresses the power absorbed into the energy core in his horns into a high-density form and fires it from his mouth. Its properties and power evolve in stages depending on the type of energy consumed—for example, it produces high-temperature flames when it absorbs heat, or ultra-high-voltage electric shocks when it absorbs electricity. By completely absorbing the energy within Godzilla’s body, GILX aims to perfect the “True Destruction Ray,” a weapon powerful enough to destroy the Earth.

Drone Carrier Machine Sagius (ドローン空母マシン サジウス, Dorōn Kūbo Mashin Sajiusu)

An amphibious, multi-legged drone aircraft carrier created as an anti-Godzilla weapon, operating a fleet of maser drones. Originally deployed with only its lower legs for mobility, an upper body designed for hand-to-hand combat was added to prepare for close-quarters engagement with Godzilla. Named Sagius after the constellation Sagittarius due to its centaur-like silhouette and the bow-like formation of its primary weapon, the grid-type maser cannon, it sorties to eliminate humanity's greatest threat.
Special Attack: Maser Arrow
A powerful energy beam fired by opening its abdominal section, capable of wide-range spread fire. Furthermore, by coordinating with its drones to form a grid-like battle array, SAGIUS constructs a pseudo-ultra-large maser cannon shaped like a massive "bow." By focusing and resonating energy onto a single point, it can boost its firepower to absolute limits.

対ゴジラ兵器として作られた、メーサードローンを運用する水陸両用の多脚ドローン空母。元は脚のみで稼働していたが、ゴジラとの近接格闘にも備え、白兵戦用の上半身が追加された。ケンタウルスのような造形と、強力な武器である格子型メーサー砲の形状から、いて座（サジタリウス）に由来してサジウスと命名され、人類の脅威であるゴジラ討伐に向けて出撃するのだった。
必殺技：メーサーアロー
腹部を展開して放つ強力なエネルギー光線。広範囲への拡散発射も可能。さらに、ドローンと連携して格子状の陣形を展開することで、巨大な「弓」のような疑似超大型メーサー砲を形成。エネルギーを一点に収束・共鳴させ、威力を極限にまで跳ね上げることができる。

Dimensional Entity Xenolhu (次元生命体 ゼノルフ, Jigen Seimei-tai Zenorufu)

An eerie lifeform from another universe that uses its octopus-like tentacles to warp space and navigate through the air. Its spatial manipulation telekinesis generates unknown waves that induce hallucinations in any living being they touch. Sensing that Godzilla's powerful heat-ray emitted a wave similar to its own spatial abilities—which interfered with its home realm—Xenolhu appeared in this world driven by sinister curiosity.
Special Attack: Abyss Gaze
A vicious technique in which Xenolhu summons a giant demonic eye that strips away the willpower of anyone who beholds it. When stared down by this demonic eye, targets are subjected to overwhelming pressure, causing them to rapidly decay and turn to ash.身長：58m 体重：45,000t

Mesmeric Entity Madomuh (幻惑生命体 マドム, Genwaku Seimei-tai Madomu)

A mysterious lifeform that has existed on Earth since prehistoric times. Equipped with high intelligence and a cry with a distinctive vocalfrequency that capable of brainwashing surrounding lifeforms, it once reigned supreme on Earth. It eventually fell into a deep, periodic slumber in a state of suspended animation beneath the ocean floor. Awakened by the calling cries of the descendants of its former thralls, Madomuh returned. Viewing itself as the absolute ruler, it harbors a deep hatred toward humanity, which roams the Earth in ignorance of its existence. It then plots to subjugate Godzilla as well and begins to close in on him.
Special Attack: Grand Spore
Two types of invasive weapons launched from within its body. The first is a mutagenic spore that fuses with microorganisms inside a pierced target to germinate, transforming the host into a loyal subordinate. The second is an offensive organism that burrows into the enemy's body and detonates from within. Both are activated at MADOMUH's command, making them terrifying internal weapons that destroy both mind and body from the inside once they are allowed to penetrate the body.

有史以前から地球に存在していた生命体。高い知能と、周囲の存在を配下にしてしまう特殊な周波数の鳴き声を備え、地上を支配する存在として君臨していた。その後、周期的に訪れる深い眠りにつき仮死状態で海底で過ごしていたが、かつて配下にしていた生物の末裔（まつえい）が呼ぶ声に反応し、復活。自らを絶対的な支配者であると自負するマドムは、何も知らず地上を跋扈（ばっこ）している人類に対して強い憎悪を抱く。そして、同じく圧倒的な力を誇るゴジラをも支配下に置くことを画策し、接近するのだった。
必殺技：グランド・スポア
体内から射出する2種の侵入型の武器。1つめは、突き刺さった生物の内部で微生物と融合・発芽し、対象を配下へと変容させる変異型の胞子。もう1つは、敵の体内に潜り込み、内部で爆散する攻撃型の生物。いずれもマドムの号令ひとつで作動するため、一度体内に侵入を許せば、内側から肉体・精神の双方を破壊する恐ろしい体内兵器。

Ancient Mecha Monster Minacias (古代機械獣 ミナキアス, Kodai Kikai-jū Minakiasu)
Height: 48m Weight: 18,000t
A mechanical monster created by a human civilization that predates recorded history. Originally constructed as a guardian of peace it was repurposed as a weapon of war by the rulers of the time, leading to the destruction of that civilization. After sleeping for millennia, it was awakened by the shockwaves of modern weapon development experiments. Mistakenly identifying Godzilla as another "human-made weapon of destruction" like itself, Minacias sets out to destroy Godzilla as a dire warning to humanity.
Special Attack: Electric Damned
A strike unleashed from the tip of its horn, achieved by gathering radio waves from the atmosphere within its body and amplifying them into power far surpassing that of natural lightning. This discharge attack, concentrated at a single point on its horn, boasts the power to incinerate any target. When the move is activated, it even seizes radio waves from televisions and smartphones as energy, causing widespread collateral damage that temporarily paralyzes local communication networks and electronic devices.

現在の文明が誕生する前の人類が作った機械獣。元々は平和の守り神として作られたが、時の為政者によって兵器として使用され、その文明は滅んでしまった。その後、長い間眠りについたが、現代の兵器開発実験の波動の影響で、数万年ぶりに再び目を覚ました。呼応するように登場したゴジラを、自らと同様に「人間が開発した破壊兵器」であると誤認識したミナキアスは、人類への警鐘を鳴らすため、討伐に向かうのだった──。

大気中の電波を体内に集積し、自然界の落雷を遥かに凌駕するパワーへと昇圧させ、角の先端から放つ一撃。角の一点に凝縮された放電攻撃は、いかなる対象物をも焼滅させる威力を誇る。技の発動時にはテレビやスマートフォンなどの電波までエネルギーとして強奪するため、周囲地域の通信網や電子機器が一時的に麻痺するという広域被害も引き起こす。

Assault Dinosaur Monster Rigedoh (撃竜怪獣 リゲド, jī Ryū Kaijū Rigedo)
Height: 50m Weight: 32,000t
A survivor of an ancient dinosaur species that had been slumbering in the polar ice awoke due to global warming and mutated into a monster as a result of exposure to nuclear waste. It initially appeared with a single horn and was referred to as "Gerano" by the research team that discovered it, but it underwent an abnormal evolution into its final form, featuring three horns and heavily developed dorsal fins. It is characterized by its ability to switch between bipedal and quadrupedal locomotion during battle, and uses its immense physical strength and unstoppable charging power to stand in Godzilla’s way.Special Attack: Dino Trident
A charge attack where Rigedoh violently accelerates by expelling energy from its back, thrusting forward like a spear with its three horns. Upon executing this technique, its head horns and dorsal fins glow a fiery red, pulverizing its target with tremendous force.

極地の氷の中で眠っていた太古の恐竜の生き残りが、地球温暖化が原因で目覚め、核廃棄物の影響で怪獣化した。当初は角が1本の姿で出現し、発見に立ち会った調査隊から「ゲラ
ノ」と呼称されていたが、背びれが異様に発達し角も3本になった最終形態への異常進化を果たす。二足歩行と四足歩行を切り替えて戦う特徴を持ち、強靭な身体を駆使した突進力を武器にゴジラの前に立ちはだかる。
必殺技：ディノ・トライデント
背中からエネルギーを噴射して猛烈に加速し、3本の角で槍のように突撃する技。この技を発動する際には、頭部の角と背びれが燃えるような赤色に発光し、とてつもない勢いで対象物を粉砕する。

To coincide with the unveiling of the new monster designs, voting begins today. Voting will take place in two phases. Phase 1 will select the top four monsters from a total of eight. Following an interim announcement, Phase 2 will begin, where voters will choose the number one monster from among the four finalists. The winning monster will be announced at“Godzilla Fest 2026,” to be held on Tuesday, November 3 (a national holiday). During the voting period, you can vote once per day, 24 hours a day. Find your favorite monster and please participate in the daily voting and show your support!
