Publisher Abrams is offering SciFi Japan readers a chance to win a copy of their new book Godzilla: The First 70 Years. Written by Steve Ryfle and Ed Godziszewski (authors of Ishiro Honda: A Life in Film, from Godzilla to Kurosawa), the large Toho-authorized hardcover is packed with information on all the Japanese films up to GODZILLA MINUS ONE, as well as photos from the Toho archives, including previously unpublished pics.
Synopsis:
Godzilla: The First 70 Years is a narrative and visual history of Japan’s King of the Monsters, chronicling the triumphs, challenges, and meaning of seven decades of city-trashing, kaiju-smashing mayhem. It is also a tribute to Godzilla’s creators and costars—the filmmakers, special-effects wizards, cast members, even the stuntmen inside the monster suit—and an appreciation of the behind-the-scenes artistry involved in bringing Godzilla to cinematic life, then and now.
Godzilla: The First 70 Years will be released July 15 and is available from retailers worldwide, including Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Books-A-Million. The hardover book runs 432 pages and retails for $75.00.
