The 3D computer animated feature STAND BY ME DORAEMON (STAND BY ME ?????, STAND BY ME Doraemon) was the top-grossing anime film in Japan for 2014. The movie is directed by Ryuichi Yagi and Takashi Yamazaki, who previously collaborated on FRIENDS: NAKI ON MONSTER ISLAND (friends ????????, Friends: Mononoke Shima no Naki, 2011). STAND BY ME DORAEMON is now playing in other Asian countries, and an English dub (produced by Bang Zoom! Entertainment and featuring the American voice cast of the DORAEMON television series airing on Disney XD) premiered October 24th at the Tokyo International Film Festival 2014. The following press notes are courtesy of international sales agent, Lucky Red... Story Doraemon, the sympathetic and protective cat robot from the 22nd century created by Fujiko f. Fujio, who has entertained both young and old since 1969 with manga, anime series, and movies, now performs for the first time on the big screen in a spectacular stereoscopic 3D. The story`s protagonist is Nobita, a 10 year-old boy destined for a future of failure due to his sluggish, indolent nature. To rescue him from that life comes Doraemon, a sort of "big brother" to help defend Nobita against the bullies Gian and Suneo and teach him to become a sensible kid and a responsible adult. To achieve this aim, Doraemon uses a series of incredible and magical gadgets which will take the blue cat and little Nobita into the future to change a fate that looks none-too-happy... Will Nobita finally succeed in winning the heart of Shizuka, the sweet friend he has always loved, and stop being influenced by Gian and Suneo? This is a thrilling journey in time, full of surprises that won`t disappoint Doraemon fans old and new.
