On July 9th, Toho International revealed a new teaser trailer, poster artwork, cast photos, along with press releases from their US subsidiary GKIDS and UK subsidiary Anime Limited with information on the worldwide theatrical release plans for their highly-anticipated movie, GODZILLA MINUS ZERO (ゴジラ-0.0/ゴジラマイナスゼロ, Gojira Mainasu Zero).

Since its first appearance in 1954, the monster "Godzilla" has continued to fascinate and shock audiences not only in Japan but around the world.

GODZILLA MINUS ONE (ゴジラ-1.0/ゴジラマイナスワン, Gojira Mainasu Wan, 2023), directed by Takashi Yamazaki, was the 70th anniversary Godzilla film and the 30th live-action Godzilla film produced in Japan. It grossed over 7.65 billion yen at the box office. Furthermore, it achieved the remarkable feat of winning over 50 awards at domestic and international film festivals, including becoming the first Asian film to win the Academy Award for Visual Effects at the 96th Academy Awards creating a global "Godzilla" phenomenon.

On Friday, November 1st, 2024 it was announced that a new Godzilla film was in production, and that Takashi Yamazaki wpuld continue to serve as director, screenwriter, and VFX artist, following his work on GODZILLA MINUS ONE.  Then, approximately one year later, on Monday, November 3rd, 2025 (a national holiday), "Godzilla Day," at "Godzilla Fest 2025" held at Tokyo Dome City, the title of the new Godzilla film, which had been kept completely secret until then, was revealed to the 39,000 attendees in front of them as GODZILLA-0.0 (GODZILLA MINUS ZERO)!

Upon the unveiling of the title and logo, the news spread rapidly across Japan and the globe, securing the number one spot on X (formerly Twitter) trends. At CinemaCon 2026, held in Las Vegas this past April, the film became the first Japanese movie to be granted a dedicated presentation slot. During Director Takashi Yamazaki’s presentation, the latest information on GODZILLA MINUS ZERO — including the first teaser footage and the announcement that it is the first Japanese live-action Godzilla film (and indeed the first Japanese film) to be produced using "Filmed for IMAX" technology — made headlines worldwide, appearing at the top of major news sites and generating massive global impact.

The film is set for release in Japan on November 3 (a national holiday) and in North America on November 6 of the same year.

It has also been confirmed that GODZILLA MINUS ZERO will be released almost simultaneously that same week across Latin America, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Australia, and New Zealand. Specific release dates for each region will be announced at a later time.

タイトルとタイトルロゴが解禁されると、そのニュースは瞬く間に日本・世界中を駆け巡り、発表後にはXトレンド1位を獲得。4月にアメリカ・ラスベガスにて開催された【CinemaCon2026】では、日本映画としては初めて作品単体でプレゼンテーションの場が設けられました。山崎貴監督のスピーチにて、ファーストティザー映像や本作が邦画実写ゴジラ映画として、さらには日本映画として初めてFilmed for IMAXで製作されること等、最新作『ゴジラ-0.0』の最新情報が発表されると、各ニュースサイトのトップに掲載されるなど、国内外の大手メディア媒体でも数多く取り上げられ、世界中に大きな衝撃を与えました。

そんな本作の日本での公開は11月3日（火・祝）、さらに北米では同年11月6日（金）に公開致します！

『ゴジラ-0.0』は同週にラテンアメリカ、ヨーロッパ、アジア、中東、オーストラリア、ニュージーランドでもほぼ同時公開されることが決定。各地域における具体的な公開日は別途発表される予定です。

Two years have passed since the life-or-death battle in GODZILLA MINUS ONE. Just as a hard-won peace seemed finally within reach, a new threat arrives to shatter it with terrifying ease. The poster features the striking tagline, "Humanity's crime and punishment. Returning to zero is not an option," alongside an image of Godzilla roaring toward the sky amidst gathering dark clouds and countless houses flying through the air—all evoking unimaginable terror and a sense of deepening despair.

A newly released 30-second teaser trailer offers a glimpse of the unfolding drama, showing Noda (Hidetaka Yoshioka)—who appeared in GODZILLA MINUS ONE—and a tense moment where Shikishima (Ryunosuke Kamiki) grabs him. The footage includes lines like "Another moral boundary mankind shouldn't cross" and scenes of bombs being dropped. It concludes with a shocking sequence showing Godzilla emerging from the sea and closing in right behind a flying boat, threatening to plunge Japan once again into the depths of despair.

This poster visual and teaser trailer will be displayed and screened sequentially at movie theaters nationwide (excluding some locations) starting Friday, July 17.

Min Tanaka is a renowned dancer and acclaimed actor whose commanding performance in last year’s smash-hit film KOKUHO (国宝, 2025) — which took Japan by storm — remains fresh in everyone's memory. Tanaka, who won the Award for Best Supporting Actor at the 49th Japan Academy Film Prize for that role, here plays Kanji Murakami, a biologist deeply scarred by the trauma of war.

Additionally, the cast members returning from the previous film have been revealed!

Hidetaka Yoshioka plays Kenji Noda, who fought Godzilla alongside the protagonist Koichi Shikishima (Ryunosuke Kamiki) in GODZILLA MINUS ONE and now battles a new threat as the director of the Large-Scale Disaster Response Bureau in this film. Yuki Yamada returns as Shiro Mizushima, a crew member of the *Shinseimaru* who fought Godzilla on the front lines with Shikishima, while Kuranosuke Sasaki is back as Seiji Akitsu, the boat's captain. Rounding out the cast are Sakura Ando as Sumiko Ota, Shikishima’s next-door neighbor who now runs the "Kiyosumi-en" (Kiyosumi Garden) orphanage, and Mio Tanaka as Tatsuo Hotta, the former captain of the destroyer “Yukikaze.”

Having survived a desperate battle alongside Shikishima, they once again confront the unprecedented despair that is Godzilla.

I was present at the place of its creation. I was an actor playing a role, but I don’t know if I was of any use there.
Yet, I felt a tremor — one that has not ceased — coursing through every corner of my body, accompanied by an endless spectrum of emotions: joy, anger, sorrow, and happiness.
I resolved then and there never to let go of that tremor.

For some reason, I had decided this when I was a child: I did not want to become "old" the way adults do.
After all, becoming old is just another way of becoming new, isn't it? That is what I — vibrant and full of life — thought as a child.

On November 3, 1954, Godzilla was born in Japan. I was nine years old.
And even now, I remain that same child, muttering to myself: "Why! Why! Why!"

Godzilla exists.

Before the release of GODZILLA MINUS ONE, while speaking with Director Yamazaki, I sensed that the story wasn't truly over for him, so I wasn't surprised when I heard we were reuniting.

That said, both the director and I were well aware that taking on a sequel would be no easy task, so I approached the shoot with a serious sense of purpose. I am truly happy to be working once again with the "Yamazaki Team" — a group that grows more impressive and reliable with every project.

Director Takashi Yamazaki spoke of his dream of directing a Godzilla film, and my impression was that he approached the project with genuine joy and dedication—so much so that during the ocean-based scenes, he was so engrossed that he even forgot to call “cut” while suffering from seasickness. (Laughs)

I’m so happy to have reunited with everyone from the Yamazaki Group.

I performed while reflecting on the journey each of our characters has taken since GODZILLA MINUS ONE.

Sumiko, the character I play, had absolutely no scenes involving Godzilla in the previous film. I felt a little sad to have appeared in a *Godzilla* movie and not haveany  interaction with the monster itself. However, having survived that encounter, I was able to return for this new installment.

What lies in store for Sumiko this time? Will she fight? Will she cowerin fear? Or will she once again have no scenes with Godzilla at all?

Please look forward to it.

I am Mio Tanaka, and I played the role of Tatsuo Hotta, the former captain of the destroyer *Yukikaze*.
It is a tremendous honor to once again portray Tatsuo Hotta and be part of the team bringing the world of *Godzilla* to life.

Looking back at the shoot, what remains unforgettable is the sheer, awe-inspiring scale of the set towering over the vast landscape.
I could really feel the pressure to surpass the previous film, as well as the enthusiasm and determination on set.

I am overjoyed to share this excitement once again on "Godzilla Day" with audiences around the world who have been looking forward to this movie, as well as with the entire team led by Director Yamazaki.

Born in Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture in 1964. He was deeply influenced by STAR WARS and CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND when he was a child, and decided to pursue a career in special effects. After graduating from Asagaya College of Art and Design, he joined Shirogumi Inc. in 1986. He worked on special effects and digital compositing for films directed by Juzo Itami, including THE LAST DANCE (大病人, Daibyōnin, 1993) and A QUIET LIFE (静かな生活, Shizukana Seikatsu, 1995). He made his directorial debut with JUVENILE (ジュブナイル, Jubunairu) in 2000, and is a leading figure in the field of visual effects and VFX, utilizing advanced CG visuals.

His movie ALWAYS -SUNSET ON THIRD STREET- (ALWAYS 三丁目の夕日, Ōruweizu: San-chōme no Yūhi, 2005), garnered acclaim for its VFX depiction of Showa-era cityscapes, replete with heartwarming humanity, vitality, and atmosphere. The film won 12 awards at the 29th Japan Academy Prize, including Best Picture and Best Director.  His films THE ETERNAL ZERO (永遠の0, Eien no Zero, 2013) and STAND BY ME DORAEMON (STAND BY ME ドラえもん, Sutando Bai Mī Doraemon, 2014) won a combined nine awards at the 38th Japan Academy Prize, including Best Picture and Best Animated Film.

Furthermore, for GODZILLA MINUS ONE, where he served as director, screenwriter, and VFX supervisor, he achieved the first-ever Visual Effects Award for a Japanese film at the 96th Academy Awards. He is considered one of Japan’s leading film directors.
