Gamera 4

Spinning flame-jetted turtles, space birds being chopped up like bologna, kids in shorts screaming for help...the original Gamera series was a strange mix of wacky fun!! The 90's Gamera films set a standard that other kaiju films are measured against! Discuss Gamera films here!!

Here is the Gamera 4 offical homepage owned by the director (I keep forgetting his name.... :( ) http://homepage3.nifty.com/godzilluck/game%20top.htm

I could host the petition on my site too, but Kyle's Shrine of Gamera site is far more popular. Still, couldn't hurt to help out :)

But that brings up something... the movie is I believe 45 minutes long. You know how large the file will be to download? Plus I'm sure the director would like some profit from this film.... so who knows.... What I'm really hoping for is that a new Gamera film be made next year to be released in 2005 for Gamera's 40th anniversary... if that happens, then this Gamera 4 fan film could be included as a DVD extra. I hope Kodokawa-Daiei sees how popular Gamera still is and that they should at least think about making new Gamera films.

Oh yeah, this is the story to Gamera 4, or at least most of it. It talks about how this film is connected to Gamera 3.

I know some Japanese, but translating would take way too long for me... Perhaps someone who knows Japanese could summerize it for us?

MZ will have a full report on the showing(s) this weekend from John L in Japan who was at both, he should be going into more detail on the plot, etc.

That's actually what I thought it would liek a DVD extra, or be like the Animatrix or something. Anyway it should be put on dvd or video but with something by Daei like if the new majin film comes out on video it could go on that or the gamera 40th anniversarry dvd or vhs. Yes it is continueing the Gamera trilogy.

guess what...
it wont be coming to the states. it wont be coming to dvd or vhs PERIOD.

""G4: Gamera 4: Truth" will NOT be released to DVD or Video (I asked Mr. Hayashiya Shinpei directly) and will remain indigenous to Japan only!!  More screenings are scheduled and are free of charge, in Tokyo only.  Pictures of promotional items and the link to the creator's homepage is below!!  This English language review is official. "

What a shame. I really wanted to see this!

"After being the **ONLY** "foreigner" to see the full creation from Mr. Hayashiya Shinpei and Mr. Hirokatsu Kihara's sequel, "Gamera 4: Shinjitsu (aka: Gamera 4: Truth", it was the rarest, amazing moment in the sold-out, non-paid, non-air conditioned theatre's second viewing of this rare underground film at Nakano Zero that runs 46 minutes and stars the actor who plays the detective in the first three high budget Daiei films (Mr. Yukijiro Hotaru as Inspector Osako)!!"

Sounds like someone's full of themselves, doesn't it. I guess it's time for John L and myself to announce that our race change operations were sucessful.

"This English language review is official. "

What on Earth can this mean? A 5 paragraph, e-mail-like "review" is official? Oh, that's right, when I mentioned to Mr. Hayashiya that I'd be helping John L. write something on the film he said, "Oh, I'm sorry. There's already an official English language review."

I'll wait to see what John L has to say about the film.
