A friend of a friend who worked at Universal said they had no good elements for the film. Any video transfer would probably be from an old I.P. or I.N. (Since the film's original neg would be cut to the Japanese version, there would be no way of getting a new I.P. of the American cut.)

With today's technology they can probably get a fairly decent-looking transfer, but I wouldn't expect anything spectacular.

The Toho DVD of this film is less than top notch? I remember their 80's VHS release was mono and often awfuly faded and speckaled in spots, but thanks to a discovery made in the interium their ealy 90's version was gorgeous.
