HB-Goji was a wimp compared to the movie versions. Its "laser eyes" hardly compensate for the incredibly weak breath weapon - flames. Not "radioactive fire" as Marvel at least mentioned (although rarely did Godzilla's inherent radioactivity seem to bother people in those comics) but pitiful normal flames. .
Marvel-Goji was somewhat better than the HB version, but not always by much. It definitely did not have good regeneration - it was wounded by a laser cannon in the first issue and spent the next couple of issues wounded, IIRC. The power of its breath weapon seemed inconsistent, as it regularly wounded other monsters while human tech often blocked or at least minimized it. This Godzilla was very much more into physical attacks, no doubt inspired by the 70s movies.
I'm inclined to think the Toho Godzillas would turn on the American versions and toast them with a combined salvo. Then the contest would really begin.
Does anyone else listen to Kajagoogoo's "Too Shy" and think of "Save the Earth?"
