GODZILLA on National Public Radio

Postby kpa » Thu May 13, 2004 11:30 pm

In conjunction with Rialto's release of the original GODZILLA, NPR http://www.npr.org/ will be running a documentary on the movie and the monster. Rialto's head Bruce Goldstein, Godzilla suit actor Haruo Nakajima, Japan's Favorite Mon-Star author Steve Ryfle, and I :D were interviewed today for the show, which will run sometime next week.

I have no idea what (if anything) I said will make the cut, but judging by the questions this should be an excellent show.

Steve Ryfle also wrote a very good article in today's Los Angeles Times. It gets a nice, splashy spread--about two-thirds of an entire page in the Calendar section.

NPR has two Godzilla reports, a short clip taken from several interviews (including mine, but I was cut  ) and a 20 minute discussion with Steve Ryfle. The Ryfle interview runs today on NPR stations, and both reports are available online at http://tinyurl.com/3ce3j

I was disappointed when I didn't hear you on the show, that was pretty harsh of them.

Thanks guys, but don't feel bad for me. I half-expected this to happen (see my first post) and when I learned the report was only 5 or 6 minutes long I fully expected it. There were too many people interviewed and not enough time.

All in all, it was a fun experience (I'd never done a radio interview before) and it was a kick being asked to do it as a favor for the folks at Rialto Pictures. Hopefully I 'll get another opportunity to try it again someday.
