Oh wow! Sweet Barugon design. I'm a big fan of redesigned kaiju (a la the Trendmasters Gamera Figures) and I LOVE that design!

Here is a color photo of the Gamera vs Barugon manga I found looking around

Turns out the story occurs between G2 and G3, so this isn't a comic version of the original film. :cry:

Oh, I don't own the manga, I just found the photo searching around for it online. Here is a link to buy it off Amazon.com's Japanese site, I'm not going to buy it since it isn't a direct adaptation of the original film, plus it has a lot of negative reviews...

Scanned some pictures from the manga. Phew! The manga is basically a scene by scene remake from the original film that has a few differences here and there. The manga starts off with Gamera killing Legion and flying off into the sky. Meanwhile, three treasure hunters, Keisuke, Onodera, and Ichiro (who is now missing an eye instead of having a limp) set off to New Guinea to find the opal somewhere in Rainbow Valley.

Finding a cave, they go inside only to find dozens of rotting corpses and the bones of a mysterious creature.

Finding dozens of tiny rubies, Keisuke looks up at the skeleton, and what appears to be a tear-drop, comes falling down into the group.

Onodera quickly snatches the prize opal and gets in a fight with Ichiro. After receiving a nasty cut from a machete, Onodera shoots Ichiro in the face and the entire cave begins to flood drowning Keisuke while Onodera makes it out in the nick of time.

When Onodera comes out of the cavern entrance, he is met by a bunch of pissed off natives with shotguns and machetes. He runs Raiders of the Lost Ark style back to his plane and flies off, leaving Keisuke floating in the water dreaming about demons.

Give me some more time and I'll have more scanned.

After a while, Keisuke wakes up and is nursed back to health by the hot native girl, Karen.

Onodera must be a complete idiot not to have noticed this.

While on the ship, Onodera falls asleep and the egg Barugon is in begins to absorb all the other jewels they found in the cave causing it to grow. Onodera wakes up and finds something trying to break out of the ship.

Barugon kills Onodera while trying to get a jewel on his necklace and then freezes the ocean water to walk across to Japan. Arriving in Japan, Barugon attacks a jewelry store and begins absorbing all the jewels. Citizens begin to catch loose diamonds and such but Barugon whips them with his tail, killing them.
