If there was a new Gamera series...

Spinning flame-jetted turtles, space birds being chopped up like bologna, kids in shorts screaming for help...the original Gamera series was a strange mix of wacky fun!! The 90's Gamera films set a standard that other kaiju films are measured against! Discuss Gamera films here!!

I already have an idea layed out (loosely based on Gvs.Guiron) called Gamera X. I call it this because it is a sequel in terms of continuity to G3, but I respect Kaneko's work and definitely would want to explicity make it clear that this is not "G4" in the truest sense. I mean, it picks up right where G3 leaves off, but seeing as how Kaneko didn't write it, calling it G4 is kinda...unethical. Besides, wouldn't want to get it confused with a certain fan film .

So I absatin from voting, because it sorta is-sorta isn't.

To be honest, one thing that really irritates me about the Showa-Heisei-Millenium Godzillas is the lack of continuity between them. It seems crazy constantly reinventing the wheel. OK Godzilla Showa to Heisei, maybe, since 10 years had passed but not since then.
Having built up such a remarkable legacy to the Kaiju genre, it would be a crime not to continue a new Gamera series where G3 left off. But that doesn´t mean it has to start with the Gyaos invasion. That could be as much or as little as a writer/director wanted. It could be dealt with in flashback in the middle or as newsreel at the beginning. But the whole present concept of Gamera - that is so strong IMHO it really should remain and can still be built upon.

Well my idea was a post-apocalyptic film where the Gyaos have overrun the world, having slaughtered Gamera with ease, and now a King Gyaos rules...but then a new Gamera rises....HYPER GAMERA AGAINST KING GYAOS (featuring Guiron)

Artistically I must say that they should start from scratch. The trilogy wrapped things up so nicely and I do not want them contuinuing from G3's end, it would COMPLETLEY ruin the monent. That's how I want the ending of Kaneko's Gamera to stay, Gamera, badly beaten, still just as brave as ever going off to face the gyaos for a final showdown. That moment, frozen in time, forever!

But seeing as how Gamera as is Godzilla are like a Frankenstein of Dracula of the modern era he does deserve new movie, but in a defferent conntinuity.
