I think I could make a decent US Ultraman film...

If I was a movie director..... and not a teenager

First off; No Baltans they've had their chance, Dada and Bulton are the movie villians. Ultraman was trasporting a Dada prisoner when it escaped for Earth (where the other Dada are hiding, trying to revive Bulton; the tool to conquer the universe) The human charcters would all be based on the original series' Science patrol. In the end Bulton is revived and things get real trippy

I read Don Glut's screenplay, and with all due respect to Mr. Glut, it was terrible. Mind you, there were some good ideas, but the character of Ultraman was completely wrong and the human host was awful -- the screenplay had him doing some completely inane things, and there were plenty of SUPERMAN: THE MOTION PICTURE rip-offs, too (including a Lois Lane-type). BLECH.

Earlier than Glut's project, there was another screenplay, written by Jeff Segal (CAPRICORN ONE, STAR WARS), called "Ultraman: The Jupiter Effect" -- which seemed a lot more exciting -- but, I never have seen a copy of the screenplay. Eventually, Segal rewrote the final story-arc from THE ULTRAMAN animated series (from 1979) and it was made into a very excellent adaptation called THE ADVENTURES OF ULTRAMAN. This was released in the US by Family Home Entertainment back in 1982 or so.

I'd like to see Mamoru Sasaki's scripts for "Ultraman: The Monster Bible" or Toshihiro Iijima's "Ultraman: Operation Giant" (or his "Revenge of the Baltans") screenplays finally wind up on film.

If would be fantastic if there was a good, big-budget co-production by Tsuburaya Productions and an American company, but that's something we'll never see -- meanwhile, Tsuburaya Productions' is planning a bigger, newer Ultraman movie for the coming year -- which is something more realistic to look forward to.

If I could make an Ultraman movie, I'd like to see the original Ultraman return to Earth to fend off an invasion by a league of aliens (or even a monster army), led by Mephiras. Otherwise, I'd like to see the REAL Baltans in an all-out attack on the Earth, not the PC ULTRAMAN COSMOS: FIRST CONTACT pap.

I think a well done American Ultraman movie might do some good for Ultraman. It might create a demand for American to see the other Ultra series.

I agree - an Ultraman movie would be awesome - IF the right people came along.

Take Godzilla 98 - Had the movie stayed in the hands of Jan De Bont, with his script, this movie might have been a lot better - I mean, it had Godzilla starting as a sea monster, then mutating to his present state.....

An Ultraman movie would have to deal with his creation and how the host deals with it....Then we'd have the following movies expliain the oncoming invasion of the Baltans and so on.

Being a film student, and very close to actually speaking to studio reps., I've already begun working on a script for an Ultraman movie......Now, I've only seen "Ultraman Ayata" , "Ultraman:Towards The Future", "Ultraman Tiga v.s. Ultraman Dyna" and read the original comic series("Ultraman v.s. Gudis), But I think I have a grasp on the "feel" of Ultraman...

My understanding is that the host has to "die" in order for the Ultraman spirit(in terms of earth's protector...I don't know about galactic defender) to take over......Also, the main character would'nt be some astronaut or a space soldier......Just a commoner who just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and "received" the Ultraman powers.....Also, think about what humanity would think about UT - They'd view him as a giant monster, so logically, the army and so on would try to hunt him down and capture him. It wouldn't be until he finally saves a city from a monster attack or a major disaster, that everyone would consider him a hero.

Guess I can't say too much....Don' wanna give my story away.... :D

I have ideas for this project, and I hope I get a chance see it happen.......
