It's not always a matter of 'Nostalgic Immunity' - I didn't see 'Godzilla vs. Megalon' in a theatre during the '70s, I saw it on tv back in '92, when I was 17 or so. And while I was disappointed with it at first, I grew to like the film more and more over the years. Yeah, I know it's a cheap film, and it has it's flaws, but I still find it entertaining. In fact I've seen plenty of movies and tv shows - considered cheap and cheesy by today's standards - and I've really enjoyed 'em. Stuff like Kikaida, Kamen Rider V3, the Showa Gamera flicks, '30s Flash gordon serials - I didn't see any of of these when I was a kid,(alright maybe the Flash stuff, but I didn't like it much back then) but I like 'em all the same.

^ Agreed, to an extent. However, King Ghidorah was in the earliest planning stages, when it was seemingly being considered as a big budget, pseudo-DAM.

One positive thing about even the lamest '70s films was that they all did have at least one new monster, which I can respect even if I'm not a big Megalon fan.

I didn't say anything about dismissing ALL criticism. However, bashing GODZILLA VS. MEGALON because of it's low production values etc. seems often silly to me because the same arguments which are produced against GODZILLA VS. MEGALON can easily be used against other Godzilla movies as well. That's why I think that many of those "critics" are simply out for bashing this movie, probably because they don't like it and because many others do it likewise.
