Also: that's a lot of blue! I mean; wooo, everything! That shot of Ghidorah in silhouette with the yellow lightning flashes looks awesome, as does the one of Godzilla roaring with the jets flying overhead (who's been reading my damn mind?! That's something I've always wanted to see in a "heroic Godzilla dream movie" ). And the part with Millie Bobby Brown running as three yellow very Ghidroah-like beams destroy the wall next to her was great!

Lots of great Rodan shots too, even if we can't see him all that clearly. Looks like he's going to mess up Washington pretty bad. And Motha's wingspan is huuuuuuuge! I guess it was inevitable given her cocooned state that we were going to see her imago form, it just never really occurred to me until now, so I definitely wasn't expecting to see it here.

So, I guess "long live the King" is the new "let them fight!" I can dig it.

I refuse to watch the trailer cause I don't want to spoil the visual look of the movie. People seem to like it. That sounds cool. Doesn't Mothra look traditional or Mothed up?

Oh, another movie trailer with the slow, distant piano... oh, hey, it's "Clair de Lune" and it strangely works for a monster movie trailer, and then Tywin Lannister says "long live the King"... yep, I'm hyped now after ignoring most of the details so far.

Yeah at first I was like "that's an odd choice for a Godzilla trailer", but after watching it a few more times it rather works. Gives you the feeling that they're treating these characters with the reverence they deserve.

Is this a monster movie or a biblical epic? The trailer feels like it's pitching the film as both and I absolutely approve. More seriously, though, the scope of destruction looks amazing. Everything else (to the extent we've seen it, I mean) seems to be on point.

I like the volcanic, cracked rock-look on the edges of Rodan's wings there. That's just a cool little touch.

Sporadic thoughts -

Very teal and orange, bioluminescent markings from Pacific Rim seems to have made an impact.
I assume that shot of Mothra's (?) face is of her larval form.
Godzilla's new fins get a thumbs up from me.
I hope adult Mothra has a bit more variety in terms of color.
Rodan looks to be one of big highlights!
I hope they deliver with a big Ghidorah 64 monster brawl.
Bear McCreary (10 Cloverfield Lane, Colossal) is an excellent choice for composer.

All in all very excited.

The visual palette of this movie is extremely unpleasant. Listerine blues and piss yellows. It recalls the early color-filters of the 00s (Final Wars baby!). Larry Fong was 100% Kong Skull Island's best asset, this film...yikes.

I wonder if there will be the same type of tonal shift as there was from the last Godzilla film.... though it seems hard to do given how significant the destruction appears to be on the trailer.... plus the size of the monsters implies major levels of destruction


I need to hear all the ROARS ASAP...
