I had never heard of Superman and Batman fighting each other until BvsS was announced (granted I'm not a comic book guy, monsters have always been my thing over superheroes).

In the '62 KKvsG, Godzilla was a straight bad guy so having Kong fight him kinda made sense. In Legendary's timeline, both Godzilla and Kong are "protectors" of their respective worlds so it seems more far fetched (in my opinion anyway) for them to fight to the death. A prolonged primal brawl, perhaps set up by humans, followed by them setting aside their differences to team up against a common enemy works better for the universe they've set up (again, IMO).

Hell, they could re-title it GODZILLA AND KONG: DESTROY ALL MONSTERS. Problem solved.

If the movie is called GODZILLA VS KONG, try making GODZILLA VS KONG the main attraction of the film. There is no excuse for shoe-horning in some lame boss-battle video-game bullshit that no one cares about.

There's also a danger of repetition if Godzilla 2 ends with Godzilla, Mothra, and Rodan teaming up to defeat Ghidorah (highly probable) and then Godzilla vs. Kong ends with those two teaming up to defeat some other threat. If it happens, it should happen differently

What if there is a Red Bamboo like terrorist organization that runs counter to monarch that wants to use kaiju as a weapon. I can see Godzilla being turned into a tragic villain in that scenario and Kong is the only hope to save the world. Eventually Godzilla is defeated but not killed and then turns on his former captors resulting in lots of explosions.

Kong was the clear winner at the end of the 1962 film.

So I see where Charles Dance is in the cast for the sequel. Any chance he'll be playing an older Tom Hiddleston??? If not, then it's the perhaps biggest missed opportunity of all time. :D

^So, if we go by traditional three act structure: acts 1 and 2 would be Godzilla vs. Kong, while act 3 would be (much to the surprise of the audience) 'The Return of King Ghidorah.'

I could see that working, especially if, as aforementioned, Ghidorah was a secret and if audiences really responded to the character in the previous film.

Truthfully, I don't want KG to turn up during Godzilla vs. Kong, but I also have my doubts that'll happen anyway. (Godzilla being found in ice) was removed because it was too similar to Man of Steel. You'd expect the production team to avoid an even more obvious comparison to Batman v. Superman, with the heroes ganging up on the villain at the end. I mean, go back through this thread and look at how many people are comparing a G&K vs. KG scenario to BvS. I can't say the filmmakers will avoid it, merely that I hope they will, based on the kind of precedent they've set. If the tag-team event happens in Movie 4, that's more palatable. I'd rather have Godzilla vs. Kong focus on Godzilla and Kong. Let them fight.

King Ghidorah back to back in 2 movies a year apart is a bit overkill, isn't it? It's just not going to happen...I'm sorry. Godzilla kills King Ghidorah in the next film up and coming and then fights Kong with no teamup - it's the most logical thing to do.

Why we talkin' bout Godzilla vs. Kong in the Godzilla 2 thread? (also, is that supposed to be Zarab disguised as Ultraman?)

Anyway, we're already getting BS rumors bubbling up here and there. It's just like old times (if old times were the few months before Shin came out).

If you are going to mention the rumor just be out with it. I can't tell from navigating that site what it's supposed to be referencing except for a possible KG design.
