Oh yeah, that one was such a non-event that I'd totally forgotten about it. The first real trailer was around April. Of course, the production cycle for an animated movie is completely different from live-action, so who knows.

Whoa. Is that concept art? Is Godzilla materializing? He looks rather like the Deer God in Princess Mononoke, here.

It looks like Godzilla has translucent skin that's illuminated from within by the Cherenkov light emanating from his nuclear core. We can see the blood vessels running under his skin and in his dorsal fins. I think he looks badass.

His head, neck, and dorsal fins look very Miregoji/Giragoji-esque, while the pointed sternum jutting upward from his chest is reminiscent of Shingoji. It also looks like he's got a little scaly goatee on his chin like a lot of portrayals of dragons.

Does anyone know what the Japanese subtitles at the bottom of the image say?

I'm okay with that art just being fan art. I don't care for the proportions of the design, especially the giant dorsal fins and scrawny arms.
