That giant buffalo is certainly Mononoke-esque.

^ That's exceptionally stupid. Artists should have a diverse and wide-ranging selection of influences to draw from, whether they're other works of art or life experiences.

^Hmmmm... I kinda interpreted it the opposite way, but I think my point still stands: artists have to be influenced by a lot of things, but it isn't their responsibility to reproduce the same effect on the audience that the influencer did.

And speaking of awesome-looking artwork - the Japanese poster:

Awesome poster, and hey, the katakana of the Japanese title actually refers to him as King Kong instead of just Kong!

...not that I mind just calling him Kong, considering that's what every character in the 1933 film calls him every time they say his name.

I also love the fact that Jordan Vogt-Roberts is evidently psyched to be meeting Shinji Higuchi and Yuji Kaida. Between Vogt-Roberts, Gareth Edwards, and Michael Dougherty, it seems like Legendary is really trying to find directors for the Monsterverse that appreciate these giant monsters as iconic characters (as opposed to, say, someone like Roland Emmerich who has disdain for them).

^Also evident is that Kaida and Higuchi are psyched to be involved with Kong, even in a small way.

What exactly is Higuchi's role in this? Did he contribute to that poster in some way? Did Warner Bros. recruit him to help promote the movie in Japan?

The internet is having a bit of a freakout over how absurdly awesome this poster is. If Legendary/WB are smart maybe they'll find some way to use it here in the states.

It's definitely the best poster for the movie I've seen so far, I hope WB does use it here in the States too.

'Logan' will open opposite Disney's 'Beauty and the Beast' on March 17, while 'Skull Island' will have the March 24 frame to itself.

Seems almost unfair releasing it so soon after that awesome Yuji Kaida one. :P

Higuchi interviews Roberts! If only I could understand Japanese aside from the odd phrase or two, as that would give me a better understanding of what he's doing there (besides being a huge kaiju fan, of course).
