I like it! This isn't going to be a reboot, but I feel it will be a 'reintroduction,' and this is a great title for that.

It'll be confusing at first, but we'll just watch for the 'the,' the ',' and ':,' and especially the '!.'

... also, I've always wanted the Japanese word order used, as in: 'Monster King Godzilla.'

I get why they went with that title, I just wish they'd gone another way. For longtime fans it's rather generic, but that seems to be the way Legendary is leaning. "Maelstrom" is a way more interesting choice than "Uprising", at least to me. But like I said, I get it. You can't go too far outside the lines in today's Hollywood.

Actually, I was hoping for this title. I rather preferred just plain King of the Monsters, but I guess for marketing purposes you have to have Godzilla in the title. But I am totally cool with this. However, without the "the" seems a little weird, but I will get used to it :D

So any confirmation that Michael Dougherty will direct? To me, seems like he will most likely, but it would be nice to get a confirmation.

I'm starting to wonder how far along with this they really are. There's also been reports that Atlanta will be one of the locations, with rumors swirling that they begin shooting this year:

^It's not rare for these big CGI movies to have about a year of post production (they finished filming the next Star Wars a while back, right?), and as for how far along the movie is: Legendary has a habit of keeping things close to the vest for a while before telling us.

Godzilla on March 19, 2013, about a year and two months before its May 8, 2014 premiere in Hollywood. With King of Monsters set to open in late March 2019, a similar timetable would make for a January/February 2018 start date. Maybe they're planning to start shooting a little earlier in November or December this year.

Usually, we would also hear about casting as well, and that takes its sweet time as the actors have to clear their schedules, and not to mention the negotiation phase.

I seriously have my doubts that they will start shooting this thing in March.

Wishful thinking, maybe things progressed faster than they expected and we may end up getting this thing next year after all? It's happened before...

But yeah, like most of you I'm skeptical. It definitely feels like we should have heard more by now if it was really ready to start shooting soon.

Hmmmm... gonna go out on a limb here, but could/maybe/possibly production be slightly screwy because the same team is doing King of Monsters and Godzilla vs. Kong back-to-back?

I revisited Krampus last month and couldn't stand how grating the humor was. Such an underwhelming choice.

^Opposite of my reaction: I found the characters and dialog grating in the beginning, but as the movie went on I found all the characters becoming more likable. I thought this was very clever, because the entire conceit of the movie is that this family is sufficiently 'naughty' to incur the wrath of the Krampus instead of Santa on Christmas, but it'd be rather skeevy to enjoy watching these monsters tear apart a family you hate by the end. It's similar to the kid in The Babadook: terribly annoying in the beginning, but becomes more and more sympathetic as the film goes on.

I caught "Krampus" over the holiday season, and to my surprise, I also rather liked it. No, it is not the perfect movie, and I could understand some of he criticisms people had on this film.

But just because one did not like the humor in "Krampus" does not automatically mean, that we will be seeing the same thing in "Godzilla 2". It is all depended on story.

With the director now in place, casting is the next phase, and we will no doubt hear some names later this year.

^Yeah, I saw that, too. Hired for the MonsterVerse writing room and promoted to director of the movie!

Legendary is pretty good at keeping a lid on stuff.

I'm excited. Trick R Treat and Krampus are two of my favorite holiday films. There is enough action going on to keep your attention. There is humor as well as very dark subject matter. The spfx were pretty top notch for being fairly low budget films. Also Dougherty is a self proclaimed fan so I believe any design input he has on Rodan, MOthra and KG will make sure the characters stay true to themselves while being updated for a new generation.
