This movie looks like it's going to be Apocalypse Now with giant monsters. I like it!

That sunset over the water poster is wonderful. And the little spoiler gifs are intriguing.... I'm getting really excited for this movie! This looks like it might actually be everything I wanted the PJ Kong to be but wasn't.

I see a lot of parallels between the posters for this movie and G'14.

The last scene in the first trailer supposedly is Godzilla's spine in the sunset.

Creedence Clearwater Revival! John C. Reilly! Multiple strange beasts (a giant elk?!)! And to top it all off: hero Kong!

Yes, finally we get to see John C. Reilly and he is pretty significant in this one! African buffalo monster?

Seen a few folks complain about crazy John C. Reilly introducing a 'clashing tone.' I don't know about you guys: but eccentric JCR (with a katana!) zeroes in on the joy center of my brain.

And look at the color! My god, I love it when these movie are actually colorful!

And it looks like Kong is not really bad in this one - "he keeps to himself mostly" as Reilly's character points out. Godzilla is not a bad creature either. That leads me to believe that perhaps Ghidrah, may ultimately be the main villain when the clash happens in 2020.

It was definitely more comedic and light-hearted than I was expecting, and I wasn't necessarily expecting hero Kong either, given the teaser. Not complaining, just observing. It all looks in my wheelhouse and really good, but it was just a tad jarring butted up against the teaser. Still not sure what to expect, but that's not a bad thing. I'm on board.

I think the tone will be something between the two trailers. The first trailer leaned into Jackson and Goodman's characters and intense moments, while the second leans into John C. Reilly and Kong's status as hero in the narrative. All of that stuff is in the movie, but the trailers accentuated different elements.

If this had been trailer 1, I don't think anyone would have blinked at the tone. It's just because trailer 1 was pushing action-horror and this one is action-comedy that some people (myself included) found the tonal shift jarring. I suspect Reilly's presence in the movie is over-emphasised in this one, since second trailers typically get into plot narration, and his character is clearly both Comic Relief and Exposition Guy.

I'm definitely excited by the footage. I was in the camp that found the shift in tone a little distracting. I wondered if thats 90% of the comedy from the movie and they stacked the trailer with it because it was released on Jimmy Kimmel?

All those creatures have me glad i preordered the art book.

At least the creatures are kind of different without going to far out of what was done on the original.
