If true....

Speaking of its release, we've surely got to be due another trailer release reasonably soon, right? It feels weird to think it's not really all that far off.

First clear look at Kong, and Roberts going through the design process and revealing a few other interesting things about the direction this movie is taking with Kong.

Love what Jordan Vogt-Roberts is saying about this stuff: drawing from the '33 design (more a 'movie monster' than a realistic ape), wanting to make the design simple and iconic enough for kids to be able to draw it and be recognizable, and then all the character stuff...

I also really like what I'm seeing and hearing here. I've always liked, not just with the original Kong design but also with many old and classic movie monsters, creatures and dinosaurs, how they often had that great "inaccurate" quality to them in terms of how they look when compared to their real-world counterparts (in cases where they might have them). It wasn't even necessarily so much a case of taking liberties with reality or the design as just that that was often what peoples' ideas of those creatures' appearances were at the time, so you get things like Kong standing upright a lot, or T-Rex' dragging their tails on the ground and also having a pretty upright posture etc.

Some people might look at that and say "well that's just what they thought they looked like before we knew better, so we need to update the look and make it more accurate to reality", but to me it's often those very features that give those creatures their unique appearances and personalities. So I love that they're going for the 1933-style 'upright' Kong and retaining that "movie monster" look, rather than the giant silverback gorilla of Peter Jackson's version. Because at the end of the day, he is a movie monster, so you shouldn't try to shy away from that.

I also just like the look of that pic. His face looks like a combination of the two original Kong figures (especially the brow), and he definitely has that iconic Kong appearance, rather than just being a big gorilla. So yeah, me likey! :D

Wow, he looks GREAT! Instantly recognizable as King Kong and not just some random ape. I am really impressed!

I definitely like the look as well, reminds me of 1933 Kong. However from the previews we've seen, what little movement the silhouette shows, I almost kind expected a 1976 Kong look... in the face, don't know why. It will be interesting to see in full motion.
There are no more good TV Shows, only ones that haven't disappointed me yet.

Maybe we get an official trailer soon...

I like how is slightly more yeti-abominable snowman like. He looks a lot more like a monster than some proud looking gorilla that you feel bad for.

Kong is looking great. Count me in for appreciating that this Kong draws on the original 1933 King Kong and is a monster rather than an overgrown animal

That is absolutely King Kong. Now I'm wondering what his roar sounds like. I hope it's appropriately monstrous and scary.

Short gif showing a helicopter encountering Kong (made to look like old archive footage). We see the shot of Kong from the publicity image we got a few days ago:
