I like pretty much all of the changes in the X-Men: Days of Future Past Rogue Cut except for the subplot involving Rogue herself. It just makes no sense. Xavier and Magneto fly the X-Jet from China to New York after Kitty has already "lost too much blood" and make it all the way back so Rogue can take her place? Wouldn't that have taken a very long time, a lot longer than the time that passes for Wolverine in 1973 which is supposed to be unfolding at the same pace? How did Iceman know where Rogue was or that she was even still alive? Why doesn't he say anything about her peril to the others or make any effort to help her until the middle of the movie? And who are those people that have taken over Xavier's mansion to experiment on Rogue? How are Magneto and Iceman able to break in and get to Rogue without encountering a single Sentinel along the way? The only thing about that whole sequence that works is the stylistic choice to cut back and forth with Magneto retrieving his helmet in 1973 as he helps to free Rogue in the future. Nothing else about that subplot really jives with the rest of the movie and Rogue's only contribution to the story from there is to do exactly what Kitty had been doing up to that point.

It is interesting how a certain character's death occurs much earlier in the Rogue Cut and I do like the other changes to the movie. The scene with Mystique and Beast really builds on their relationship from First Class (and it's interesting to consider whether it's supposed to be canon when the two characters meet again in Apocalypse). The additional dialogue with the original trilogy cast in the future scenes is also welcome. There are some cool little changes that don't really alter the story but do take advantage of the alternate cut. For instance, with Kitty no longer occupied with Wolverine, she ends up being the one to bring Magneto inside from the Sentinel attack by pulling him through the wall instead of Blink creating a portal. Overall though, I think the Rogue sub-plot itself is the biggest strike against the Rogue Cut and I do prefer the theatrical cut. Nothing against Anna Paquin but I think an ideal version of the film would basically be a Rogueless Rogue Cut.

I still want to know how Kitty obtained the powers to send people back in time.

The Shining - First off, it was wonderful getting to see this on the big screen. The cinematography is absolutely stunning and the story is great. Not to mention the suspense, the horror, and the tension is superb. There's a reason why it is my fifth favorite horror movie of all time. However, I do need to say one thing about it and that is my god this movie is in serious need of a new remaster. Seeing it on the big screen really highlighted all of the muted colors and soft images the current master contains. The fact that WB has so poorly treated this movie is a shame. Hopefully they will give it a 4K remaster for its 40th anniversary (and release it on BD since they haven't bothered to release the Clockwork Orange 4K master on disc yet). Anyway, I give this thing a 10/10.

Pride, Prejudice, and Zombies - Where do begin? Well, not only is it one of the worst movies of the year, it makes Gods of Egypt look like a masterpiece. Still not as bad as Meet the Blacks, though. This movie is a mess. The characters are poorly written and there is not a single shed of chemistry between them. Even Lena Hedley, Charles Dance, and Matt Smith are clearly phoning it in. I've seen less wood in a forest compared to this movie's acting. Hell, the last scene with Matt Smith looked like he made this face that read, "Yes, my part in this movie is done!" Also, for a movie about zombies there was barely any zombie action. The plot, if that is what you can call it made no sense as if it was just skipping to the next scene without even finishing the previous one. All of it was garbage, the dialog was stilted as the actors were clearly just reading their lines, and the effects were hideous (not to mention most of them were CGI effects). I give this undead nightmare a 3/10. Why a 3? Because I gave Gods of Egypt a 4, that's why.

Frankenstein meets The Wolf Man- A decent sequel to both Frankenstein and The Wolf Man. Watched this on BD and the movie never looked better. Universal did a fantastic job on this.

House of Frankenstein- It's alright as a sequel to FmTWM. Dracula really didn't belong in the movie though I have no idea why they added him maybe it was to pad the film out. Again the movie looks great on BD.

House of Dracula- Again another decent sequel but I feel as though Dracula was just an after thought but at least The Wolf Man got some major focus.

Werewolf of London- Universal's first foray into werewolf cinema and it doesn't dissapoint. Defiently one of my top 10 favorite werewolf films. The BD looks and sounds fantastic.

After watching all these classic horror movies it made me realize how great they are. I wish we could get a movie now adays that is like this.

I never understood the point of Dracula in House of Frankenstein. I guess it was because having just the monster and Larry again would have been redundant?

I love how Dracula gets disposed of. XD Though I feel like they honestly never integrated Dracula properly into any of the mash up movies until Abbot and Costello.

^It's like Abbott and Costello was the only movie where they gave actual thought into how these characters could fit together.

I also saw The Shining at the theater this Sunday, and took my Dad (who'd just finished the book) and my sister (who, like my Dad, had never seen the movie). We all loved it and had a good time watching Kubrick throw some especially unnerving stuff at us. As great as Nicholson, Duvall, and Crothers are Danny Lloyd is the MVP of the movie. The movie doesn't work without that kid.

^ I can't stand most Jane Austen adaptations, but that doesn't sound too far off from the original story.

The Curse of the Werewolf, which is one of my favorite Hammer films and one of the first ones I saw. It contains the iconic grey-haired puffy-shirt werewolf!

Saw Gods of Egypt. I know this got decimated by the critics, but this is one of the most ambitious movies i've seen this year. While most genre films are trying to stay "grounded fantasy" this film had no qualms embracing a flat disc earth with Ra literally dragging the sun across the sky with his sun boat while battling a space worm. As far as modern takes on mythology, I'll take this over the recent Hercules, Thor or Wrath of the Titans films.

All differences to comics aside... I just think the X-Men film series continuity got too convoluted and has collapsed on itself, so now we have a jumbled mess that doesn't make sense. As I said earlier, I really like the end of DofP, and its efforts to clean everything up that X3 messed up The problem is...it skirted over a lot of issues, and there is no way they could have gotten to that point without addressing many things. It almost feels as if a film is missing. That being said, I am going to see Apocalypse (whenever Redbox decides to get it) as merely a "dumb down" action film, and try not to let the lack of continuity sour the experience. Still... I wonder how a world that was nearly destroyed by Apocalypse in the 1980's knows so little about Mutants in the year 2000? So basically...by the time we meet the X-Men in the first film, their greatest battle has already come and gone... :?
There are no more good TV Shows, only ones that haven't disappointed me yet.

So many of those things are nitpicky and dumb...or inaccurate.

Wolverine DID have bone claws. That was revealed not only after Magneto stripped away his adamantium, but also later on when Marvel decided that after the success of the first X film, they better do an official Wolverine origin story before Fox did one.

It was a six issue mini that ran in 2001.

Remember though, Trask is a black dude in the first timeline, not a midget white guy.

BTW, I watched The Blob and give it an 8/10. Such a fun cheesy movie with decent effects work. McQueen does not look like a high schooler though.

The Black Scorpion- *Actually watched earlier in the month but forgot to include it* I don't think the movie holds up well it's nice and has decent special effects but Them and others like it are much better.

Creep- I watched this on Neflix last night ugh what a terrible movie, a decent premise but terribly excuted.

Frankenweenie (Animated)- I hadn't watched this since it came out on home video in 2013 and I really enjoy it.
