My dad actually had some of these in edited form on Super 8 when I was growing up (also he had the entire captain marvel serial on Super 8)...I loved that years later on MST3K they riffed some of these..... "It's the UNDERSEA KINGDOM! for you and for me!"
There are no more good TV Shows, only ones that haven't disappointed me yet.

THE UNDERSEA KINGDOM was one of my first exposures to old (really old) sci-fi and despite the clumsiness, cornball dialogue and unbelievably over-the-top acting ("It'll crush like the shell of an egg!!!!!!!") ...yet it just somehow works. There are TONS of fights, battles and chases scenes, "futuristic" robot minions (the Volkites), rocket 'aero' planes and rayguns, and a boatload of other sci-fi tropes on full display, to keep even the most A.D.D.-type glued to the screen just to see what the heck will happen next. And of course, holding it all together is uber-ham man's man... Ray "Crash" Corrigan. What's NOT to love about this terrific 30's serial??? I would LOVE to have some company (KINO, OLIVE or SHOUT!) spend the dough to obtain a solid set of prints and do a full restoration on it and put it out on Blu-ray. Well... one can dream!

Pile into the mighty Juggernaut and... "Ram the Gates!"
