Showed the trailer to Mrs Klen7... her response was "I get Godzilla... but Kong... nothing against the trailer.. it was a good trailer... but i don't get Kong... he's just a giant monkey"

Looks cool, although it's a shame John Goodman will die at the 40 minute mark.

"Hold your bananas close...." :P

I'm also glad it looks like Kong is a lot more humanoid in this film than he was in the Peter Jackson one. Sure it might not be as "realistic" as having him simply be an enormous gorilla, but to paraphrase the great Ray Harryhausen, sometimes you just want the illusion of reality, not reality itself. I like that having him be more humanoid makes him appear somehow "less" real but more "movie monsterish", as he did in the original, or the Toho films. I really like having him be sort of one step removed from reality like that.

So yeah, big thumbs up from me for how he appears to be being portrayed (at least visually) in this trailer.

He does seem a bit Sasquatch-y in the extremely limited time he has in the trailer, and I'm one who likes a more apelike Kong, but the trailer was too awesome for me to write anything off yet.

I wouldn't extrapolate too much from this teaser about Kong's personality. Remember when we all thought Godzilla would be about him being a force of destruction based on those trailers?

^ and sheepish Monarch confirmation from Goodman!

You know, I thought they'd sell Hiddleston as the lead, but this initial unveiling of the move has really pushed the ensemble nature. I like that!

Toby Kebell waffles a bit about whether he's playing Kong. Maybe they've ended up using more of his performance than he expected?

At first glance, it looks like we can expect a good soundtrack then. Not being immediately familiar with Jackman's work I went off to Youtube and Wikipedia and found that Jackman's work includes the music for Captain America: Civil War, Wreck-It Ralph, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and Monsters vs Aliens.

BTW, I don't know if people around here have caught it: you get a glimpse/shadow/profile of a giant spider. It's like, right after the helicopter crashes, and right before Samuel Jackson tells Goodman "I'll blow your head off"

If it is a giant grand-daddy long legs, it would be hilarious to see Samuel Jackson's character grab one of the spiders legs while shouting "Grand-Daddy long legs which way did the cows go!". (even if it's just an outtake, perhaps swapping out cows with monkey or ape; whichever word best suits Jackson's character)
