Here is a high resolution of the pic. You can even zoom in.

He looks somewhat like Jackson's Kong, but without the scars. And if those proportions are right (with the guy standing there), then that is one huge ape!

His shape looks a bit more humanoid to me - but I'd have to have a better look at him to say.

In doing some comparing and contrasting, here is Jackson's Kong:

Image

The starkest difference I could find thus far is the nose. If one looks closely, this Kong has more of a heart-shaped nose than Jackson's version. In fact, it is the same heart-shaped nose that 1933 Kong had!

The Comic-Con trailer is here, and it looks pretty great! :D

And yeah, he's big!

^ I really like the symmetry between that shot and earlier one of Sam Jackson standing against the fiery orange background in the same pose from earlier in the trailer. And that shot of the gigantic hand print on the mountainside is awesome! :D

Also, giant spider creature confirmed at the 46 second mark! Here's hoping for plenty more beasts and monsters too!

I hope the over the top creature count is high.

I really hope when Kong fights the "T-Rex" in this movie that Kong isn't able to kill it. It is more of a draw and maybe they can square off again in a later sequel. Have a huge rivalry between them. (Please be a Gorosaurus type monster)

This trailer is one of the most awesome trailers I have seen this year! The close up of the head as well as the body shot of Kong standing really reminded me of the 33' Kong with modern special fx! I am more pumped for this movie than I have ever been!

Excellent trailer! Gets you excited for the story (a battle for survival on the island), the cast looks great, and the movie just looks gorgeous!

... and Kong certainly looks more 'fantasy gorilla' this time! I love that!

Can't wait to get a better look at Kong and to see the various beasties on the island. The giant arachnid overhead is a neat tease for the things to come.

Awesome trailer -- next March can't get here soon enough. I hope the people at Warner Brothers are looking at their own giant monsters beyond King Kong (EG the Rhedosaurus, etc.) they'd be great additions to the growing WB kaiju-verse.

An excellent trailer. The visuals and atmosphere are seriously impressive. I won't think twice about seeing the movie in the theater.

Also, I know this is a pipe dream, but I'd lose my mind in the theater if Rodan flew in and attacked Kong at some point in the movie. Even just hearing the classic Rodan screech in the background somewhere would raise my hype levels. Gotta tease Godzilla vs. Kong somehow, right? (They'll probably do that with much more subtlety, but still.)

Interesting trailer but one thing that stood out to me is they put emphasis on the dragonfly at the beginning of the trailer. So lets look at some facts shall we?

-We know that this movie is in the Godzilla universe.
-Godzilla fought Megaguirus which is supposed to be a giant dragon fly from prehistoric times.
-Skull Island is a throwback island with creatures from prehistoric times

So Kong fights Megaguirus???!!??!!?

I'm just over analyzing is all but that'd be cool if he did.

Excellent trailer!

I haven't seen Goodman in a while, and was surprised how much weight he's lost.

Happy to see an upright (as far as we've seen) Kong, too. Just like my boy, '76 KK! I ain't kidding, either...I do loves me some De Laurentiis Kong!

Anyway, this movie's looking pretty great so far.

The thing I liked best about the trailer was that it felt like it has a legitimate 70s feel in a lot of ways. I was a little hesitant/skeptical about that notion, but I'm feeling more accepting of it now.

On one hand that was a pretty cool trailer.

On the other I'm a bit put off by how huge and humanoid this Kong is. I know they want him to eventually fight a 354 ft. Godzilla but I was hoping for more of a cross between the 33 and 05 versions. Between that and the 70s setting it just seems odd to me they'd bring the 76 film to mind in any way.

^I'm super-pumped he's more humanoid. I think Kong should be slightly tilted towards the 'missing link' side of the scale of movie apes.

PS - How beautiful is that shot of Kong silhouetted in front of the sun?

Kong is more than an overgrown gorilla, he's always had some humanoid features. The 05' Kong was too much of a giant gorilla imo.
