So, I really don't think this Godzilla is going to have any real mobility aside from that tail. Through two trailers, 3 TV spots, and now a clip from the animated crossover, it's the only thing that moves. The arms are evidently locked in position.
That's honestly really disappointing. It's 2016 and we're potentially getting the Godzilla with the least range of motion ever, and that's when there have been suits that have weighed hundreds of pounds while this is a CGI creation with limitless potential. You can spin it however you want: I'm blind because I don't see the subtlety, it's an homage to the original, it helps the CGI look better because Toho can't do more on their budget; to me, it's just bad.
I'm glad though that I'm getting plenty of time to get used to the idea. Even though I don't like it, it will allow me to focus on the story instead of getting bogged down in staring at what thus far looks like the worst Godzilla design and execution to ever come out of Toho. Best comparison I can give is how I knew well in advance that World War Z would be NOTHING like the book, so I went in just focusing on what it WAS on its own merits, rather than what it WASN'T.
What it appears Shin Gojira WON'T be (for me) is a movie with a good Godzilla design or execution; perhaps what it WILL be (at least I hope so) is a movie with compelling characters, a decent amount of tension and atmosphere, and a good story.
