His hand tensed up for a second in the first trailer. That's gotta count for something.

But seriously: this appears to be a deliberate aesthetic choice mimicking the original '54 suit. We'll see how it carries over the film.

The film is still shrouded in a lot of mystery, but from what we've seen it will be providing one thing PacRim and Godzilla '14, as much as I liked those movies, didn't provide: solid, extended, military vs. monster action.

I was missing that! I always enjoy seeing the military chuck everything that have at the monster.

It will be nice seeing more military vs monster action again -- if Godzilla Resurgence gets a Fathom events showing hopefully the closest AMC will run it (they don't usually seem to run any Fathom Events showings so far).

To be more accurate Pacific Rim did not have traditional military vs monster action. The Pan Pacific Defense Corps was the military in PR; though I guess their exact status by the time of the movie may best be described as mercenaries because the world governments shifted their funding to the Wall.

I did hope that G'14 would have had MASER tanks, especially with the Monarch groups long history of research. But where there really wasn't much military vs. monster action any MASER tanks would have probably been wasted sitting on the sidelines. I'm not expecting MASER tanks in G Resurgence, but they'll be a welcome addition if there.

According to a member on Tohokingdom, Snowden is on another fourm with the script to Godzilla resurgence similar to when he had the 2012 version of the legendary script.

Godzilla is all over Shibuya. Posters everywhere (especially the train station), a promotion at 7-11 where you buy two bowls of ramen and you get a mini plastic ramen bowl that hangs on the edge and features either Ghidorah, Shin-Goji, Bio-Goji, or one of three Evangelion things, and Godzilla's face and hand busting through the outside of a mall and tearing off part of its logo.

At the end it has the latest shot we saw yesterday in 1080.

I feel like Zack is trolling so he can come back and say "See how ridiculous you sound when you say it's horrible?"

But the thing is: it LOOKS bad... And even if you don't agree, nobody is saying that IS what it's like in the movie. Nobody's saying the movie is terrible or the execution throughout is bad, how could anyone? Nobody's seen it yet. But what I CAN say (confidently) is that what I've seen so far looks either outright bad or gives me serious pause/concern.

I think it LOOKS bad, in terms of the effects, and I think it's one of the very worst Godzilla designs in a 60 year history...but you know what other design I hate? Son of Godzilla. And I ADORE that movie. You know what else has some BAD effects? Godzilla 2000, and I love it. You know what else has moments that just drive me crazy to LOOK at? Godzilla x Mechagodzilla and I like it a LOT.

Hell, I'm not even super huge on the original Gojira design, but it's still the BEST film in the franchise.

It's okay to say you don't like the way this looks so far, it doesn't mean you're a hater.

Btw, it's also okay to think it looks great. I just don't...and statements like "The best most nuanced portrayal in history" come across as pure trolling given 30 seconds of footage.
Gills.

That's just it - the TV spot with the apparent drive by while gazing up at Godzilla looks cool...until you notice that Godzilla's actually trying to walk - and with his massively disproportionate legs it looks like he's barely moving at all. It's like he can't even pick up his own leg and put it down. You actually see this in the other trailer as well, but only for a brief snippet. My main concern with this Godzilla is that once we see him in action, his massive legs will give way to the utter hilarity of not being able to suspend our disbelief when we see him walking (if we actually see him walking). Now, we may never have that issue - maybe Higuchi will do what they've done so far in the trailers and give us a Godzilla with implied motion or maybe we will see him moving from the waist up or from great distances...but so far it's just one of the genuine concerns I have about an all CGI Godzilla with insanely off proportions.

And yet, I'm still very much looking forward to this movie because I'm a Godzilla fan and I hope it does really well. I'm not a hater. Just don't say this is the most nuanced portrayal of Godzilla in motion when the movie isn't even OUT yet.

 I was impressed by how well the shot of Godzilla roaring(which looked incredibly bad and felt like an unnecessary homage to the hand puppet from '54 in the original trailer)came off in the context of the scene. I'm pretty convinced that the special effects are going to look fine to me. My only concern now is if the story will bring anything new to the table, and if it will be told in an interesting manner...

New trailer looks much more polished, but man that music almost put me to sleep.

That ending shot tho - wow - looked really cool.

But yet again, Godzilla is either not moving or being shown to only move from distance...whatever - it looks cool. Looks like we are in for Godzilla vs. the military...hoping it is good. PS -

The special effects really did improve a lot. The bad helicopter shot from the first trailer looks good now. We did see a ton of board room meetings in this trailer. Sounds like some of those concerns are very real.

His face has a dull surprised look on him. Just look at that confused look on his face.
