Look at the bones above on this page:

Those bones are much larger than what a 100ft ape would be.

Oooh, but maybe it's just proof that this movie's Kong isn't fully grown?

I wish I could have copied the article, but I just had to facepalm at the writer stating that the main reason for making Kong 100 ft tall is so that he can now go toe-to-toe with Godzilla.... I'm thinking between Skull island and GvsKK there is going to have to be yet another Kong, or the one from Skull island is going to have to have one heck of a growth spurt.

The previous Largest Kong- Toho lists Kong from KK vs G at 45 meters (or between 147 and 148 feet tall) The Male MUTO was *said* to be 60 meters tall. So this statement seems to be fairly accurate, still not quite sizable enough to compete with Godzilla yet, but we're getting there.

In doing my best Jeff Goldblum impersonation - "Now that is one big pile of bones!"

Still a little confused. They are stating that this is the biggest Kong ever. I thought Kong in KK. vs. G. was bigger.

Hearing that there is no "Beauty and the Beast" story in this one, I find quite refreshing! I also do not want to see him battle another T-Rex. We've been there and done that. There should most definitely be a foe on that island for Kong and strangely enough, I would not mind seeing the return of the Rhedosaurus. It would all be quite symbolic. The Rhedosaurus, in many ways, was the inspiration for Godzilla. I say, why not have Kong fight the precursor before the does battle with the Big G?

Awaken the King. I like it. I'm on board for this thus far with my only reservation/curiosity being what the point of setting it in the 70s is.

^ The director said it coincides with the thurough satellite mapping of the entire Earth - the last unknown spot on the map being mapped.

I dunno if that's a retroactive explanation, but it's a neat idea.

On Kong's size, I've talked about this with several of my friends online already. Godzilla is 108 meters, he's MASSIVE. Naturally, in this 'verse, Kong will be much bigger than any other to stand any chance against Godzilla. However, that does not mean Kong also has to be 108 meters. Even this Godzilla's so-called "arch enemies" were smaller than him. And they managed to put up a good fight on their own. From the pictures we've seen so far, I'd hazard a guess this Kong is going to be 70-90 meters tall. This would put him in the ballpark of the M.U.T.Os. This size would allow Kong to be small enough to jump around buildings, climb skyscrapers, grab objects (cars, rubble, tanks, etc) and throw them. And even at this smaller size compared to Godzilla, he could still use his ape strength to pry Godzilla's jaws open, stuff a tree in his jaws, etc. He'd also be small enough (and fast enough) to dodge Godzilla's tail strikes, atomic ray, and generally keep out of his reach.

If I'm right and Kong is about the size of the male (probably a few meters tall, I'm personally betting on 85 meters versus Godzilla's 108), it'd still clock him at 278 feet, a full 131 feet more than 1962's. He'd still be biggest Kong yet. There'd be a 76 foot difference between their sizes, give or take a few inches.

Maybe I'm wrong. But I'm betting Kong will be smaller than Godzilla come their next meeting.

^ at that scale, yes I could accept that, even being 2/3 Godzilla's size would be a good fight. but none of the smaller enemies (Kamacuras, Ebirah) really put up a fight IMHO. And no I don't count Mothra Larva's in M vs G, because...that was just dumb....(don't get me wrong its a great film, just dumb how they "defeated" Godzilla)
