I was somewhat interested because Duncan Jones is directing and I like his previous films, but this trailer REALLY un-sold me. I don't know what's happening, who it's happening to, where it's happening, when it's taking place, why this thing that I don't know anything about its happening, or ANYTHING aside from warriors, and orcs are nervous or something.

I get it, I'm not a pre-existing Warcraft fan, so maybe some of this complaining is silly, but movies aren't (or shouldn't be) made solely for people who are already fans of something. It's supposedly a movie for everyone and I don't see anything here I should care about for any reason. Just some dodgy CGI, and a fantasy epic scale.

I'm already preparing myself for something that doesn't feel like a Duncan Jones movie at all and hoping he goes back to his smaller scale stuff.

Development on the feature adaptation of “Warcraft” began 10 years ago in 2006. Filming didn’t start until January, 2014, and lasted for four months, primarily in Vancouver.

Hah, I'm not sure which is going to be worse, this or Ghostbusters. Actually, one review compared this to Battlefield Earth, which makes it automatically worse. That is a comparison NO MOVIE EVER should have to deal with and we already had a movie on par with BE named Mortdecai.

Duncan Jones obviously meant this one, but is that enough?

As a recovering 6 year WoWcrack addict I really enjoyed the movie. There were some flaws and its not the LOTR but I did have a lot of fun and the visuals were beautiful.

It seems Legendary's Hail Mary China gambit may have paid off. Not that interested in Warcraft, but good news for Legendary (the keepers of the kaiju flame) is appreciated by me.

Saw this over the weekend. I liked it. Seems a bit miscast and the second half seems to drag a bit (mostly because you know what they need to do it just takes forever to do it), but the first half moves along nicely. The CG is pretty on point (Orcs look better than anything in the Hobbit films) and generally I just had fun.

Man, I haven't seen the movie, but the box office success of this thing is crazy to me. Really shows how times have changed. It's finally turned a profit with nearly $380 million world wide and 90% of that came from outside North America. $156 million of it came from China.

Saw the movie yesterday in Peru, and after more than two weeks after release the theater was packed full. I went with a pretty low bar but the actual film was entertaining and looked somewhat consistent with the game i remember (the first two 90s games, never played the others). There is room for improvement, specially for the human side because the orcs were spot on.

THR:

The video game adaptation tanked in the U.S., but blasted its way to one of the best showings of all time at the Chinese box office.

This movie stank.

You can almost pinpoint the moment it becomes a complete clusterf***, though it's not exactly GOOD before that.
When they have their "secret" meeting and get ambushed, the movie goes to ruin. It makes the first half seem worse, because a lot of questions and inconsistencies and dumb things don't get answered, but that's the moment when you realize this thing is going off the rails, those questions won't get answered and the whole thing is going to be a horrible ordeal that doesn't end in a remotely satisfactory way.

It saddens me that Duncan Jones was involved in this. I just hope he can keep away from any potential sequels. He's too good for this.
