Assault on Precinct 13 - I need to watch this movie more often because it is great. There are a few negatives such as the one lady who has this dead pan face the entire time as if she is half asleep, but it is such a unique and interesting movie that that part can be ignored. The music is great. The shocking moments are just that, shocking. And the characters are fun. I give it an 8/10.

Alien 3 - I actually like this movie quite a bit. It's not as strong as the original, but I think it works well and the Alien is terrifying. The CGI has not held up well, but the Alien suit is nifty and everything involving it looks great.

Alien vs. Predator: Requiem - Eh, this film is worse than I remembered. It's not overly fun, which given the tone of the movie it really needed to be because it's not scary and the characters are wooden and underdeveloped.

The Nice Guys - WB, one of the original kings of Film Noir back in the 40s and 50s has given us a truly spectacular Neo Noir that knows how to balance itself between drama and comedy with such precision. The story itself is an interesting one and the actors all do a fantastic job with the roles they have been given. Not to mention the acting is incredible from everyone including the child actors. You will find yourself laughing just as much as being shocked by what occurs on screen, making for one satisfying moment that only the criminal experts at Warner could provide. This is easily one of the best movies of the year and one of the most stand out films as far as harkening back to the days of yesteryear as they have masterfully recreated a nice 1978 LA to the point that one scene even features a Jaws 2 billboard. There is a great deal of excellent lighting used as well, especially during a really nice scene when one of the characters is lighting up. I give The Nicy Guys a fantastic 9/10 stars as it does have its flaws such as running about ten minutes too much and some might not be able to stomach a few of the violent scenes.

Cloverfield - I loved this movie in theaters and still enjoy it now. Clover is a cool monster.

X-Men Days of Future Past Rogue Cut - I have mixed feelings on this cut. The movie itself is still great, but I guess I expected a lot more considering the big hype they were making her scenes out to be. I do love the added stuff with Mystique and Beast since it makes far more sense now and watching Magneto have a similar type of scene between the two timelines was an awesomely edited scene. Love it. I give it an 8/10. It isn't as good as First Class, but it is right behind it.

Guardians of the Galaxy - Great movie with a lot of fun characters and dialog while telling a serious story. 9/10.

Mad Max: Fury Road

This movie is a perfect example of action as storytelling. Just seeing Max evolve from the purely selfish, animalistic state he is at the beginning to the empathetic man (who remembers all his Main Force Patrol training!) at the end... it's just amazing!

Scarface - This was my first time watching the original 1932 movie and it was all right. I didn't realize it was made before they started adding a score to movies, which I think could have made it so much better. The camera work was great and the acting was pretty good. It is a shame we didn't get more of Karloff on screen, but oh well. I am really suprised to see how much of this movie was actually carried into the 80s remake. I'm going to give it a 7/10.

Movies had scores prior to 1932. At least some did.

Metroplis (1927) had a full score. Though it wasn't recorded. It was intended to be played live by an orchestra as the film was projected.

They actually have played the 2010 restoration with live orchestras at several venues in recent years. And a modern recording of it is included as the audio on the bluray.

It took a few years for what we'd think of as a modern film score to really take root in the era of talkies. Steiner's score for King Kong in 1933 was a big achievement and leap towards what we'd think of as a typical score, for example.

Scarface - Easily one of the best movies ever made with its grandiose scope and music. Al Pacino is amazing and does a great job on portraying a man, who may be a criminal, is not afraid of morals and will do what he believes to be right without a second thought of the consequences. Everyone here does an excellent job and the build up the movie does from nobody to employee to kingpin is done with such finess. This is a near masterpiece that is only hindered by its own inability to provide a truly heroic character, but that is just a minor nitpick for such a fantastic adventure. It is also one of the best remakes to ever grace the silver screen. 9/10 stars.

Deadpool - Rewatched after getting the Blu Ray. It's still good, though I think it dropped a bit for me since the initial viewing.

Starship Troopers - This a terrible film in all the right ways. The CGI ranges from awful (all of the space ship stuff) to surprisingly good (all the bugs look great IMO). I like it - the campy dialogue and cliches work, plus the action is fun. Giant bugs? Check. Gratuitous violence? Check. It's just a fun movie.

Captain America: Civil War - My buddy wanted to see this again, and this was my second time watching it. It's still a great movie. The action is intense. The characters all work well together.

X-Men: Apocalypse - This movie is, at best, uneven. At worst, it's better than X3. Some of the characters are developed incredibly well. Some, like Psylocke, Angel, and Storm, and basically forgotten once things get moving.

The Mysterians - So....this was my first time watching said movie, and I wasn't overly impressed with it. The film is just uneven. I really enjoyed the first 30 minutes, especially Moguera's appearance, but everything after is very hit and miss. We have an all star cast, but none of them are given much to do. The miniatures are pretty awesome, but the editing and the effects are very spotty at times and the battle scenes are a bit overlong. I also didn't like the random "oh I found a secret cave entrance to their base!" line that came out of nowhere (literally, with no exploration to be had). There are some awesome matte shots, some great sets, but overall it's just really uneven and not something I'd rush to see again.

Matango - This is a genuinely creepy film and has an awesome cast. Check it out if you haven't.

The Big Sleep - Snappy witty dialog, excellent one liners, and conversations where people interrupt each other? Must be a Howard Hawks movie. Better yet, must be a movie that has Humphrey Bogart in it. Seriously, this movie was awesome. I do feel the plot got a little convoluted in a few areas, but that aside, this movie was fantastic from start to finish. I'm curious to see now how Dick Powell pulls off Philip Marlowe since Bogart did a phenomenal job here, but apparently Chandlier likes Powell's performance the best, so we'll see. I give this movie a nice big 9/10.

Murder, My Sweet - Powell's Marlowe wasn't as good as Bogart's, but this movie was quite enjoyable. It had a lot of atmosphere to it, especially in the forest towards the beginning of the movie and the drugged scene was shot with great finese. It was a true spectacle. Unfortunately, the movie does run maybe 10 minutes longer than it should, but it was still a great one nonethless. I give it an 8/10.

The X From Outer Space - What a dull movie. By the time anything of real value happens, I was kinda bored. Guilala is not a great kaiju design, either. Some of miniatures were passable, lots weren't, and the score was just bland. Meh.

Moon - This movie is amazing. Rockwell's performance is spectacular and there are so many things to chew on. It's damn near perfect.
