I feel the bigger the screen you watch this trailer on the better Godzilla looks: you see the all the subtle movements in his body as he movies slowly while on a smaller screen he comes across as exceptionally stiff as he appears to barely move at all.

I like this trailer. It shows off a lot of great cinematography and impressive special effects shots set to harrowing music while still keeping the film's plot almost entirely under wraps. We know that Godzilla appears, a lot of people react to his presence, and he battles the JSDF. That's about it. I'm sure Toho will reveal more information about the story prior to release but for now I think they're doing a good job of keeping us in the dark. This trailer is definitely intriguing and it makes me want to learn more.

I really dig the way Godzilla looks. The leaked set photos made him look barbecued but seeing him in motion, his flesh looks like it's made of molten lava, dark on the outer surface, glowing red deep within, and pulsating. It's a mesmerizing appearance and, coupled with the G'54-esque stance and lumbering gait, it makes him look sufficiently ominous. It's like they combined the most effective elements of G'54 and G'95, and I wonder if maybe this Godzilla won't be threatening to explode or melt down or something similar. I hope he really does look like this because he's in the process of regenerating as others have suggested before. That's such a cool concept and this full-body design really sells it.

Color me interested. I can't wait to see where they're going with this.

Apparently toy information for Shin-Godzilla has listings for Godzilla 2016 Kaiju A and B, implying that there will be two other kaiju in this film. I wouldn't be surprised if this movie ends up being really meta and insane, given the bizarre new tagline ("Reality vs Fiction").

Watching a lot of videos and comments on the web, I have the impression that not even the godzilla fans know what they want.

Comments about why his tale is so big or why his hands are so tiny, taht he looks better or worse than Legendary Godzilla, etc etc.

For me, Godzilla is a mutated abelisaurid, that's why he has tiny hands on this version:

Anyway, one thing that brough my attention is how a lot think TOHO is trying to impress people from the United States and that TOHO is making a movie for them, I don't think that is the case, TOHO will go for the Japanese audience, first, the U.S already has Legendary, that's the Godzilla the U.S. has to get excited, this one is for Japan, I would like to hear or read how the japanese audience reacts once the movie is in the big screen.

Still stuck on the kaiju A and B listing, which could amount to a whole lot of nothing...but can you imagine this Godzilla fighting any monster at all with his baby arms? I certainly can't. I'm still torn on the design. It's the most radical departure from the norm we've seen from Toho, and the arms really drive me nuts. If this were an American design, everyone would crap on it...but since Toho did it, I guess it's ok somehow. Legendary's G had weird feet and gills and people screamed about it and yet somehow I see the same crowd eating this charred hamburger look up like it's a return to the true form of Goji. I just don't get it.

Oh, and there's this continued cross promotion (courtesy of August's blog) -

LOL okay I will admit this is not a very flattering shot. Something is wrong here....

Sidenote Godzilla will be voiced by Bobcat Goldthwait.
