Well, a movie that was on Svengoolie not too long ago is finally making it's blu-ray debut thanks to Shout Factory!

Nice i can't wait for that. I watched it a long time ago on Super Scary Saturday in the late 80s then I got a hankering to watch it like 15 years ago so I downloaded a blurry VHS rip. I will defiently be picking this up for sure.

Wow. That's awesome! I've always wanted to see THE BOY WHO CRIED... since reading about it in my ancient, well-thumbed copy of Ed Naha's Monsters: From Screen to Scream. Only know of if from a brief description and a couple of press stills. Thanks for the heads-up! :o

KINO is also releasing One Million Years BC (1966)! One step closer to a complete Harryhausen Blu-Ray library: only Gulliver and Gwangi left!

The final three Jaws films will be released in June on Blu-ray. Jaws 3 will have the 3D version included. Though JtR looks to be bare bones save for a trailer.

Shout Factory has announced a new line of Blu-Ray movie releases called 'Shout Select.' Seems to me it's an attempt to give their non-horror releases a kind of brand like 'Scream Factory' has. Anyway, their initial lineup of films is strong: the John Carpenter/Kurt Russel TV movie Elvis, Road House, both Bill & Ted films, and Buckaroo Banzai!

I just assumed the Warner Archive would get to the Val Lewton films eventually - but breaking news: Criterion is releasing Cat People (1942)!

You know what I want Criterion to acquire? All the Marx Brothers films. They've dealt with Universal (who own their first five films). They're now playing with Warner (who own the films from Night at the Opera on). It's a perfect candidate for a big box set akin to their Zatoichi box.

Of course, it'd be great if Kraken Releasing went after the all the Honda/Tsuburaya films Media Blasters released in the '00s, but you know who else could do such a release justice? Arrow. Their Battles Without Honor or Humanity and Female Prisoner Scorpion sets kinda make me long for such a set of Toho films.

I've been thinking the same thing lately too. I missed picking up most of those releases though I did manage to get Atragon and The War In Space; it would be great to find them all at a reasonable price again (and on blu-ray no less)

^ Mr. Greenfield of Kraken Releasing just did an interview at TK where he vaguely alluded to not every Toho genre film even having a HD master for Toho to give to distributors.

That's too bad, but at the end of the day I'll take being able to buy new affordably priced copies of Varan, The Mysterians, et.al on DVD if that's the only option currently. Being able to get all the films on blu-ray would be great of course, but I do get Toho wanting to prioritize the creation of HD masters for what will sell best for them.

If Kraken is looking at the other films for home video release, perhaps they could start off slowly with the movies that do have HD masters and track sales with the hope of convincing Toho to create HD masters for the films that need them.

That's great news, glad to see Hasbro can let the animated movie get released again (perhaps this has something to do with Hasbro's recent shared movie universe initiative). There were some pretty good extras on the 20th Anniversary DVD, hopefully Shout Factory can secure them for the blu-ray release (or at least create something equal or better).

Universal's apparently working on a (3D!) Blu-Ray of It Came From Outer Space. Hopefully some of their other '50s sci-fi flicks are in the pipe, too, as I'd love to have Incredible Shrinking Man and Tarantula, as well.

I'd like to see not just the Lensman movie that was adapted from the first few episodes of the series, but the entire Lensman series get a US release. I think it was 1990 or 1991 the first time I saw the movie.

A few years later when my parents first bought a computer, I learned that the movie was actually a small chunk of a series and that series was based on the Lensman stories of pulp writer (and science-fiction pioneer) E.E. "Doc" Smith. Doubly interesting was learning that Smith's Lensman stories was highly influential in the development of the Silver Age Green Lantern and the GL Corps. I still need to track down copies of Smith's Lensman stories, they were originally published in Astounding in the late 30s and later as novels in the early 50s

^I certainly hope so.

I'd love to have every Kong film on Blu, even King Kong Lives! Of course, a miracle of Universal acquiring the Japanese cuts of the two Toho Kong films would also be appreciated.
