Well, this was inevitable - but it's not as hard of a choice as I thought. As incredible as G'54 is, Mothra vs. Godzilla is very much my ideal Godzilla film, and my favorite film altogether.
Mothra vs. Godzilla gets my vote.

Mothra vs. Godzilla takes it from Godzilla '54, 13 to 6.

These are two of my favorite films but Ghidrah is the quintessential Godzilla film in my opinion. It wins.

Down to the best of the best. Have to go Ghidorah here. As someone said this is arguably the perfect Godzilla film. Introduces Ghidorah and teams Godzilla up with Rodan and Mothra.

Hail to the King. The only thing Bio has over GTTHM is the Bio-Goji suit, which remains one of my favorites. Everything else goes with Ghidorah.

GTTHM..... Just out of curiosity...Is there any way we can see all the brackets? It must be too early for me. I thought Biollante got removed in a previous round.

Going with Biollante. It was my favorite Godzilla film for a long time (MZ currently holds that spot), but Bio remains in my top 3 and is tied to so many awesome memories as a kid. I love Ghidrah, but I simply enjoy Biollante more.

Extremely tough choice here. Possibly the hardest of the tournament for me thus far. Biollante is traditionally my #3 overall G flick, but as people have said, GTTHM is such a quintessential Godzilla film...it's kinda got EVERYTHING that one thinks of when one thinks of Godzilla, both good AND bad, honestly. It's got Godzilla as both villain and hero, it's got solo monster rampages and monster rumbles, it's got some good human characters and some poor ones, it's got some harder scifi and some fantasy elements, it's got some great effects and some really shoddy ones...it's really got EVERYTHING that makes Godzilla Godzilla all rolled into one really fun movie...

...However, I think Biollante is the absolute HEIGHT of Godzilla from a technical perspective. Through and through every effect in the film holds up, every miniature and explosion and piece of fight choreography is absolutely up to its task. It lacks a GREAT main character, but Shiragami is for sure fascinating and Colonel Gondo is a pretty fun guy. The Saradian agent is a pretty unique human villain as far as the series goes, what with basically being completely Amoral rather than IMmoral. I really like that.

This is REALLY tough...

...BIOLLANTE gets the win for me.
Gills.

Biollante. As much as I enjoy GTTHM, I simply get more out of Biollante - namely better visuals and a slightly more gripping story. Maybe it's a touch too long, but otherwise, its high and low points are both higher than its competitor's.

No surprise here, Ghidrah the Three Headed Monster! Biollante is awesome. But as I've said before, GTTHM is THE Godzilla movie.

Godzilla vs. Biollante is a worthy contender but Ghidorah the Three-Headed Monster is superior.

I agree that Ghidorah is a quintessential Godzilla film and I'd say that Biollante fits that bill too. Like King Ghidorah in 1964, Biollante showcases how dynamic and imaginative the original monsters introduced in Godzilla movies can be. We see Godzilla fight his opponent in the water and on land, both with dazzling ranged attacks and up-close and gnarly. There are terrific sequences of the JSDF doing battle with Godzilla which span the Sea of Japan, the city of Osaka, and the Japanese countryside. They throw everything they've got at Godzilla: warships. planes, foot soldiers, biological weaponry, a psychic girl, and a big electricity-based weapons array to top it all off. The movie sports a great ensemble cast of scientists, psychics, and government/military types, and all three camps are balanced well with the monster action.

All due credit to Godzilla vs. Biollante for being the best movie of the Heisei Series, but my vote definitely goes to Ghidorah the Three-Headed Monster here. I think it's interesting that three of these four semifinalists are Ishiro Honda films with Akira Ifukube scores.

Curiously, I've never felt the love for GtTHM like its contemporaries. I haven't yet figured out why.

Godzilla vs. Biollante is a childhood favorite, however, so it gets my vote.
