Not a fan of Abrams. I mean I enjoyed Super8, and the first Star Trek, but did not like what he did with ST: Into Darkness and Star Wars at all, not one bit! So I hope he doesn't go anywhere near Pacific Rim, or Godzilla, or anything Marvel or DC, or anymore Star Wars and Star Trek, or etc., etc., etc., etc.

Multiple outlets reporting that John Boyega will play Idris Elba's son in PacRim2. Will he be the lead? I wouldn't mind if he was! Of course, I'd certainly want Mako back in a big role as well.

If he's Pentecost's son, I would assume there might be some jealousy issues arising from his dad possibly favoring Mako? Could be interesting. I'M EXCITED.

Well, it seems he is the star! He's even got a producer credit on the thing.

Naturally, I hope for a big role for Rinko Kikuchi as well, but while I'm certainly no Charlie Hunnam hater (I liked him a lot, as a matter of fact), I'm perfectly okay with him having a smaller role. His story arc was neatly wrapped up in the previous film, so I don't see any reason for another movie to be about him.

It was rumored a while ago that PacRim 2 would come out in 2018, which would be great, as it'd occupy the kaiju vacancy left by the rescheduled Godzilla 2.

GDT just tweeted that his role in PacRim 2 is "producer, co-story" and that he trusts DeKnight.

It's very interesting that they showed DeKnight all the PacRim ideas they were working on for various projects and he simply chose the bits that interested him.
