I recognize that the Gamera trilogy are wellmade films but for some reason I'm never in the mood to watch them and they're always a chore for me to sit through (GOTU does not apply for the most part) and its not a Gamera bias because I watch the showa films all the time. The Heisei films just don't speak to me I guess. I absolutely adore the kaiju designs though, particularly Irys.

I wonder if they've completely scrapped the sequence with the bloody, charred Godzilla? What if it's somewhat important for the plot, and it's rejiggered for Godzilla to be mostly obscured and a few moments of CGI?

Kind of bummed we won't be seeing the "nightmare" Godzilla in the final film.

.... hey, didn't G-Fan magazine run an editorial a year ago voicing a lot of excitement about the 'proper' Godzilla returning after an American imitation? I wonder how they feel now that they've seen Higuchi and Anno's radical approach, contrasting to Legendary's rather traditional composite of previous, popular Godzillas?

Ha! I am pretty curious about that. Especially after that editors letter that said G'14 missed the point and Higuchi would have been a better choice than Edwards. I will be really surprised if Lees likes this new darker direction

Why? Lees is pretty firmly in the camp of people who only like Godzilla if it's Japanese and are totally cool with Toho doing things radically different but not anyone American because of reasons.
