Most Godzilla designs show him as his normal self, healthy and without injury. It's not common for iconic Godzilla suits/props to depict him in a state of abnormal health. There's the Burning Godzilla from Godzilla vs. Destroyer, then in Godzilla: Tokyo SOS he has a chest scar, and that's about it. He racks up some serious wounds in Godzilla vs. Hedorah, including a partially skeletonized hand, but those were modifications to an existing suit that didn't stick around beyond that film. I'm excited to see how Godzilla: Resurgence presents this new version of an unwell Godzilla.

Okay, now that his design and suit has leaked, do you think that might speed up when Toho will release an actual trailer? (The already released so-called teaser doesn't count).

Wow, the sh*t always seems to hit the fan whenever I'm away for a few days. Anyways, here we go...


From what I've seen thus far, if Higuchi and Anno meant "making Godzilla more terrifying" by trying to create the ugliest/ most unattractive Godzilla suit/design as possible, then so far they're succeeding from what I've seen.

I don't mind a "dark" take on the character, but I do think it's perfectly possible to make a cool, great and intimidating-looking suit design showing the effects of nuclear exposure as opposed to just simply making a design deliberately ugly. And that is main gripe with what I've seen thus far....to me it's not "dark" or "terrifying", it's just ugly....*very* ugly (and yes, I'm sure I'll hear "But he's supposed to be ugly to show the horrific effects of nuclear energy!", but I feel they may have went a bit overboard. We'll just have to wait and see how it turns out)....

I don't think we can definitively say that Godzilla's state is caused by radiation damage yet.

If the plot of Godzilla Resurgence operates on the same concept of it being a direct sequel to the original movie, as Toho used with Godzilla Returns/1985 and most of the Millenium movies, then Godzilla's highly damaged state is due to the Oxygen Destroyer. If this is the case then Godzilla has spent much of the past 62 years recovering from being stripped down to fragments of bone, maybe even smaller particles.

As much as I'd love to see the idea of an Adult Junior coming back as the 'main' Godzilla, I think the concept is long dead at this point. It just seems this movie is going to be a solo endeavor for Godzilla and I'm perfectly fine with that.
