I know we've only seen a profile of the head and neck so far, but I'm already in love with this design.

It's demonic and grotesque and nightmarish and horrific. In short...beautiful.

I, like most Godzilla fans, love every incarnation of the Big G for different reasons. He's already had so many different interpretations and directions, and all of them are interesting and awesome in their own right.

But I think it's safe to say we've never seen anything like this yet (GMK Goji is approaching this, but still definitely a ways off)...and I can't wait!!

G85 and Biollante are two of my favorite Godzilla movies for a reason. Godzilla was god damn scary! He was portrayed as this monstrous, unstoppable force. Something to feared.

I'm so glad to see this revisited in spades!! Bring on Demon Monster Gojira!!

Man, I am really worried about this movie guys.

We got a director who can't handle criticism about his films (if you read his replies to the negative feedback the AoT movies received), a composer who is average, a Godzilla face that doesn't really work for me, but most of all, he is being made 118 meters just because Toho wants him to be bigger than the 2014 one. Why can't they just stick with what worked in the Millennium era and keep Godzilla around 50 meters? Why do they have to up the American one?

Keeping Godzilla at 50 meters only matters when you're exclusively working with traditional miniature/man-in-suit methods, because you begin to have the scale really hamper the amount of detail you could get into those miniatures. That's why a lot of non-Godzilla, non-Gamera kaiju films have kaiju shorter than even 50 meters.

With the 'hybrid' approach Higuchi and his team are apparently using, I don't think that'll be a problem. This Godzilla's only marginally bigger than the Legendary one, and he didn't seem too big to me.

Hideki Anno is writing/directing but I don't know who else is writing it. I don't know if they had a script prior to involving him.

Also, Independence Day Resurgence... Godzilla Resurgence. Bah... poor timing.

^^^ At a minimum I'm hoping for the best Tokusatsu effects with a sprinkle of CG with lots of disaster porn at the hands of Godzilla.

I too, am a little concerned(in fact, my only concern)about Godzilla's new height. Not so much for Godzilla himself, but for any monsters that should happen to show up in future sequels. Really, my main concern is not so much for this film, but Legendary's proposed series. What I'm getting at, is if Ghidorah IS used in any future film, and his size is scaled to the current 'Zilla's, I'm afraid that he will be SO big, that suspension of disbelief will be nigh on impossible. Just my opinion, for what it's worth...

I like Godzilla's new face, remember this is a monster we should NOT sympatize with. I was mentioned by either Higuchi or Anno that this Godzilla is going to be the most terrifying of all (more than GMK).

Even Legendary Godzilla doesn't look evil, threatening maybe, but not evil (considering he has a face based on dogs, bears and eagles), this is a deformed beast coming from the deep of the sea, to threat humanity.
