Oh man, I have an older friend that is a bit curmudgeon. He's not a fan of Felicia Day (nor Joss Whedon for that matter) and we were talking about the reboot and hoped they didn't get some one like Patton Oswalt either, as he's not a big fan of his either. So he's all "Well, I'm out. No interest in this what so ever anymore." It's hilarious.

I was talking on reddit with folks thinking it was going to be Oswalt. I didn't think he'd take a "second fiddle" role. But hey, I'm totally cool with that.

Although I was kind of hoping the name would be slightly updated like Internet's Son of TV's Frank. But TV's Son of Tv's Frank is good too.

And I realized that the photos on them in the kickstarter banner seem to be their look for the show and Felicia doesn't look too off kilter like I thought a Forrester would look. I mean she looks like she's herself ready for a business meeting. No frizzed out or wacky hair cut, no bright green rimmed glasses, no green lab coat. Maybe they're keeping her look under wraps or are still working on it (as Patton's and Jonah's outfits are rather easy). But she looks more like Joel's assistant than a Mad on the kickstarter banner.

I'm actually more excited about what Patton's gonna bring to the writing of riffs. MST3K at its best was at its best largely because you had a lot of great folks with different interests who were pooling this enormous amount of jokes.

I hadn't heard of Ray or Day before they were announced, but Oswalt is pretty huge in my book. He's a known fan (he hosted the MST reunion panel at SDCC a few years ago) and should fit right in.

I just thought of another good reason to bring this back. I was just trying to describe MST to a co-worker who is 24 and has never even heard of it. I mean I'd imagine he would have at least heard of it from older relatives as he is a sci-fi enthusiast..... but no, and of course even my best description cannot do it justice

Well, looks like the 4.4M goal was surpassed about an hour ago. so we will at least see 9 new episodes. Initially I was skeptical they would get the 5.5M, but now anything is possible with a little over 30 hours to go. I figure most really good kick starters start off strong, then fizzle out in the middle (as did this one), but there appears to be a strong finish coming, they might actually get the 5.5M, the next 30 hours should prove interesting.

Now my question is what happens if they get like 5.4 million. Is it just like tough "OH GODZILLA! WHAT TERRIBLE LANGUAGE!" you get 9 episodes? Or could they squeeze out to 10-11 episodes?

Jeez, Pendleton Ward (creator Adventure Time) will be doing some animation for the new show, Rebecca Sugar (creator of Steven Universe) is designing something, Steven Sugar (brother of Rebecca, and Steven Universe background artist) is working on the design for the S.O.L. interior and the Mad's lair, Guy Davis (B.P.R.D.) is doing something, Adam Savage (Mythbusters) will be handling some practical effects... this is insane!

I sure hope this gets picked up. I think a cult channel like El Ray would probably get the most mileage out of this show. Or at least Hulu/Netflix/Amazon etc

The telethon is a technical nightmare, but Patton thrives in this adverse environment and has effectively taken over the broadcast in between old MST3K clips.

But man, several people on Facebook were REALLY upset at the thought of Jerry Seinfeld having a cameo. I thought people who stopped watching when Joel left and Mike took over were bad, but geez.
