My thoughts exactly. Yay new Trek series. Boo Kurtsman's involvement.

But if we're not going to be following the exploits of the Enterprise and her crew, who are we going to follow? I mean Enterprise was the exploration ship. DS9 was a space station. Voyager, was similar to the Enterprise in exploration but had a grander goal of returning home. I'm sure there's other ships out for exploration missions but it just seems strange to follow a non-Enterprise ship for exploration.

Being in the Universe B makes sense since it's the one that's popular now and could get and keep more new viewers. But still...

But hopefully this means we can get some more interesting stories again and not just action set pieces sewn together,

I'm kind of mixed on this -- while I'm not much of a fan of Orci's & Kurtzman's movie work, I do think their television work is generally pretty solid. Also, Nu-Trek is okay I guess -- at times the movies struck me as a ham-fisted pastiche of Star Trek.

Definitely do not like that, for now at least, this new Star Trek series (outside of the first episode apparently) can only be watched through CBS's streaming service.

What I was really hoping was to see cameos of characters from the previous series such as Worf, Riker, Sisko, Odo, Janaway, Seven, etc. But since this new series follows the new timeline that may not happen.

And I also refuse (and can't afford) to subscribe to another streaming service just to watch one show, even if its Star Trek, and I'm a big fan. I hope CBS realizes that they may alienate a lot of viewers and fans.

screw cbs. I havent watched any of their current shows in years now b/c they wont put them on the major streaming services. No way I'm going to pay to stream ONE network's shows.

I really think that this series will ultimately be a financial flop due to being hosted on yet another proprietary streaming service. I'm not sure what else CBS would have that would make subscribing to them be a great idea. One of the few companies that I feel like could have their own very successful streaming service, Disney, just signed a deal with Netflix for airing their stuff in September. And I just tried seeing what other properties that CBS owns that I'd like to watch and basically came up empty handed. MacGyver maybe? But nothing where I feel like I NEED to get this new service. And, in my opinion, that's what is going to kill this new series, regardless if it is good or not.
