Back in May they released a photo of Kylo Ren without his mask. Here it is for the curious, spoiler tags just in case -- nothing spoilery about the plot in the image though...

Now, Kylo Ren is being played by Adam Driver; here's a pic of him from this years SDCC. The spoiler tags are just for space convenience, he's in a suit so nothing spoilery here either.

Why did I bother posting the picture of Adam Driver from SDCC, because of some speculation about the identity of Kylo Ren when the first clips showed up online. What is this speculation? Spoiler tags just in case anyone doesn't to read it...

I'm good. I didn't know they dropped the VII, that is stupid. The numbers are a part of Star Wars and belong with them, especially with all of the side movie crap coming out.

All I care about is that on Tuesday I get paid so I'm going to order my tickets from the Alamo Drafthouse's showing that Thursday night (at least, I'm assuming it will be airing Thursday night like every other movie does these days).

Yeah...numbers are kind of not "a part of Star Wars." That's a more recent convention.

Hrmm... No Luke Skywalker on the poster... odd, but still pretty good.

the original 1977 crawl sequence (which is available on the DVD set released in 2008 iirc) has no "Episode" #, though I have no doubt the new crawl sequence will have episode VII at the beginning.

Additionally this just brings up another interesting thought. The full 20th Century FOX theme has always accompanied the opening intro to every Star Wars film. Even all the official soundtracks have it. I think it is going to feel a little odd without it. For example - I was one of the very few individuals who actually paid money to see the Star Wars: The Clone Wars film in theaters, and while the opening scene was not as grand as any Star Wars film, the lack of 20th Century fox logo & music was an immediate distraction (WB released the film in theaters, and the Lucasfilm logo had Clone battle sound FX, that was about it).

If anything, Hopefully Disney will not attach their castle logo to this film, and like the Marvel films, just allow the film to start with its own logo – I guess the best we can hope for is a silent Lucasfilm Logo, then “A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away….”
There are no more good TV Shows, only ones that haven't disappointed me yet.

Is that a Death Star in the background?

I really hope they aren't treading that same ground again... I'm already hesitant that we are revisiting Skywalkers, Solos, Fetts etc... it's a big universe, lets see more of it.

New poster revealing the real characters. Abrams really pulled the wool over our eyes with this one...

EDIT:

Just got my tickets for Thursday night IMAX showing at 10pm.

**** IT!!!

One of our friends and us have been on the computer for the last hour or so trying to order tickets but our Drafthouse's site won't load. They somehow sold out of the 6pm, 7pm, and 10pm showings in like 5 seconds and we can't even get on to see if the 720, 740, or 8pm showings have any good seats left. I'm done with this bs because this is unacceptable. We'll just go to see it on a Sat morning or something that weekend at an AMC to a showing that isn't preselling their tickets.

I need to watch this on a loop for a week. I only watched on my phone so the audio wasn't great some of the line sounded garbled but the music sounds phenomenal!

So glad I got "midnight" showing tickets.

Also love the fact that it still doesn't really show us the plot. It doesn't look like a confounding mess, nor do I feel like I saw the film cut down tow 2 minutes. This is how you do a trailer.

Yeah, they showed the footage the right way, I have no idea how the movie will flow, or really anything more than I get who the good guys and bad guys are. Really love the fact we have only seen Luke's hand leaving me to believe a couple things....

Well so much for that. My Drathouse's site is working again and the only seats still available for the Thursday and Friday times are at the very front row of the theater. **** THAT!! We'll just walk into an AMC on that Friday morning and see it by ourselves without this bs hassle and then see it again with our friends another day. The one time I want to tickets to a movie on the day they go up and I get screwed.

Blargh. My cynicism levels couldn't be much higher for this movie. I want it to be great, but i am deconstructing every little thing i see about this movie into something negative. I think ST:ID dropped JJ Abrams into Zack Snyder territory for me...
