Return of Godzilla. Easily. FW is zany fun, but falls way short of its potential and, as jelly inferred, over stays it's welcome with an excessive run time. G'84 is one of my "comfort food" movies that just hits the right notes for me and I never ever get tired of it. Plus, it actually is the objectively better movie.

ROG by a long shot. I really like how it shows Godzilla as a worldwide issue, instead of Japan always being in a bubble full of monsters.

GFW hurts sometimes, because I can see the glorious movie it could have been peeking out through the holes of the movie we got. I'm going with RoG, with a small measure of regret.

Gigan. This is surprisingly easy for me, much as I enjoy Ghidorah. I think its faults are a little less forgivable than Gigan's since Ghidorah was made at a time when Toho still ostensibly cared about making QUALITY Godzilla movies, and it comes on the heels of the best Godzilla movie..whereas Gigan lies in the "wasteland" of the 70s Godzilla movies when it was all about most money in box office for least amount of budget, and comes on the heels of one of the worst films of the Showa era.

A lot of the effects gaffes in Ghidorah bug me, and the cast just isn't as awesome as the cast of Gigan. Godzilla vs. Gigan all the way! (until it faces Mothra vs. Godzilla where it deserves to lose).
Gills.

I think this is the hardest choice in this tournament for me as these are 2 of my favorite films... however renting the Gigan vhs tape from the local video store was a bigger part of my childhood as I wasn't able to see ghidrah till I was a tween (loathe that term). Gigan is my choice but there are no loses here.

"Gigan" works even though it shouldn't -- the Goji suit is getting old, there's stock footage aplenty, but the human cast is memorable and the dubbing is a riot.

"Ghidrah" is Honda and Tsuburaya at their peak, it's a major turning point in Godzilla's character, and the debut of his greatest nemesis.

"Ghidrah" for the win.

Voting for Ghidorah. I don't enjoy Gigan as much as I used to - I find its flaws too distracting for me to get into it. Ghidorah has some of the same flaws, but not to the same extent, and it's better crafted in most respects.

GTTHM. I enjoy both films, but on any given day, if watching a random Godzilla film, I am going to pick GTTHM over Gigan.
There are no more good TV Shows, only ones that haven't disappointed me yet.

Going with Ghidorah here. There's a lot of love for both movies, but I'm going with the triple punch of Godzilla, Rodan and Mothra.

Wanted to expand on my vote above...

Gigan is good, but I also feel it's overrated around here. It's a very safe, by-the-numbers Godzilla film with a rather memorable human cast. But it also suffers from its shoestring budget. It's good, but not great. It's certainly in the top half of the list for me, but that's about it. (Although Gigan himself is an awesome monster and probably my second favorite pure villain behind Ghidorah).

GTTHM on the other hand is the peak of the golden age, imo. It's easily my favorite Showa film and possibly my favorite Godzilla film. It certainly has its flaws too (such as the rapid fire day-night-day editing), but they are generally less glaring (and often corrected in the U.S. cut) and usually a direct result of the extreme production schedule (which I guess Gigan also had...). But it has a fun cast, a really cool and unusual outerspace-fairytale-60's spythriller-story, one of the best Godzilla suits, great monster fights, the introduction (and best appearance/execution, imo) of the coolest villain monster in the series, the first multi-monster mashup, and a great score. There are films in the series that might be better from a technical or critical level, but none deliver the same overall package that is Ghidrah the Three-Headed Monster!

It is the quintessential Godzilla film.

As in game 3, even though I've got more nostalgia for Godzilla vs. Gigan, I think Ghidorah the Three-Headed Monster is the better film here. They're two of my favorite Godzilla movies, they each boast stellar casts of characters, and they both excel in their own ways and on their own terms. Fukuda, Nakano, and co. did the best they could with their limited resources in 1972 and they absolutely succeeded, but the all-star monster mashup of 1964 was one of the creative hallmarks of the Showa Era. A lot of the special effects footage featured in Gigan is actually from Ghidorah.

I like them both, but I love vs. Gigan. It's not even nostalgia, it's the fun-factor for me. Plus if I wanna watch Showa Ghidorah I just pop in Monster Zero.
