Is Eva the only thing people can associate with Anno? Has no one else watched Gunbuster or Nadia? Sigh.

Gunbuster is amazing, one of the first newer Anime I watched released by U.S. Renditions back in 1990. Too bad they had to ruin it with the garbage Sequel - Diebuster, of which Anno only did the storyboarding. Not sure why he couldn't /didn't direct it, but it was awful. As a fan of Super Robot anime, NGE has always been overrated. Anno has only directed one or two live action films I am aware of, hopefully he brings some originality to Godzilla, and doesn't let the over dramatization I've seen in some of his other work transfer into Godzilla. I don't want a young male or female lead crying uncontrollably constantly throughout the film.
There are no more good TV Shows, only ones that haven't disappointed me yet.

Speaking of Anno, wasn't he also one of the directors of one of my favorite Anime's "Royal Space Force"? As for NGE, I really enjoyed most of the series. I was just disappointed that the ending didn't go in the direction I was expecting...

By the way I like Evangelion. Don't love it, but like it.

I don't love Evangelion but I do find it incredibly fascinating. Whatever Anno's Godzilla winds up being, I'm intrigued.

I'm pessimistic mainly because if it turns out great, I'd be in for a treat. I did that with GXM. I came away absolutely loving the movie despite how people say it's crap.

I often wonder if the timid audience member dislikes Shinji because his personality is too familiar.

^ Ahh the old "The lady doth protest too much, methinks" Hamlet argument. I'll admit, I've known people to do this in the past, but I can honestly say I've never met anyone in real life who is even close to having that characters personality traits, though I'll admit my circle of friends is very limited these days. However I'm sure since the series has become well known, someone somewhere is bound to emulate him.

So back to G2016, any new news??...

By now, I'm sure we've all seen the new Gamera and Ultraman trailers. Godzilla has got some pretty damn big shoes to fill. I don't care what anyone thinks of the CGI. What those 2 trailers managed to do is give some very dynamic angles and scale to the look. Hell, maybe Higuchi can also get a similarly dynamic shots with whatever techniques he'll be using. He did pretty good with the Gamera movies. I'm so excited because the competition looks so good. Maybe this will really light the fire of competition in Japan, not just Godzilla 2014.

Toho isn't even blinking at this.....

There's no competition either. One is good for the other, unless they try to release at the same time.

I'm fully expecting G16 to feature Attack on Titan-esque effects...a large of amount of CGI with some suits thrown in as well.

And if that happens, I would imagine some of the same people who weren't fans of the recent Gamera and Ultraman trailers will probably not be a fan of G16.

Both a new Japanese Godzilla and now a new Gamera movie coming out next year. That alone is cause to celebrate.
