If Toho is doing a complete reboot, Shin-Gojira isn't a terrible title. There's no way I can call this one Shin-Godzilla. Gotta leave it all Japanese.

I want more kaiju, and it definitely helps Toho with merchandise. I can see this being a solo film easily though.

If they have Godzilla as an evolving monster they could have him starring solo and still satisfy the collectible crowd. As the film goes on he grows and matures with his appearance changing appropriately along the way with a corresponding toy for each iteration. Kind of like Hedorah, or the evolving Ghidorah from GMK.

^ The film needs to be a hit with the international market, otherwise Toho is just going to back to letting Legendary make the money for them for a few years. Although, their casting is very "what's hot now in Japan" (very much like Final Wars) instead of going for actors with international recognition... This is one area where Showa Toho had a better idea of how to handle international marketing.
