I'm game, but Legendary comics has a pretty shoddy record at this point. I love these franchises but their LC offerings have been a little mediocre (Year Zero) or not so good (Godzilla).. but yeh, i really want to like this. ::crosses fingers::

I never even checked out Godzilla because I thought Year Zero was pretty terrible and heard Godzilla was worse...I'll be interested in this but not instantly on-board. I'll wait to hear what others think.

Yeh... I really didn't care for Godzilla Awakening. I think Year Zero would have worked better as a mini. I probably like YZ more than most, but it does suffer from contradictions and forced tie ins to the films characters.

Godzilla: Awakening was a mess; but I thought Tales From Year Zero was pretty satisfying. Hopefully, though, this new comic will be more "fun" than TFYZ, which was rather somber overall.

A single artist working on it will help tremendously. The initial Legendary comics of PacRim and Godzilla used multiple artists in a way that didn't really gel, making them feel disjointed.

Darn it!

Oh, well. At least it gives King Kong time to breath without another giant monster film opening one month after. And it means kaiju will effectively bookend summer '17.

They just made technology that linked the brains of multiple monkeys together to control a robot arm the other day. In order word, monkeys drifted to control a prototype Jaeger. I wish I was making this up.

Maelstrom should totally be the title. I mean, 'Pacific Rim: Maelstrom' may be the best title for a kaiju movie ever!

I agree with Jelly. There is a greater chance of me being tag teamed by Rhonda Rousey, Taylor Swift and Kate Upton at the same time than of a Pacific Rim x Godzilla crossover. The universes are too different and contradict each other. The only way it would make any sense is if they rebooted Godzilla's origin for the Pacific Rim timeline which there is a 0% chance of that happening. At most, I could only see this happening in a Comic book series crossover. Or maybe a Pacific Rim film makes a bunch of not so subtle Godzilla references by using alien rift technology to grow its own earthbound kaiju that is Godzilla-esque. Maybe give him the name of the King of the Kaiju or something. AS far as a radioactive Godzilla fighting Jaeger and other kaiju in a Pacific Rim movie? Never gonna happen.

Maybe if PacRim had done REALLY well in Japan, then maybe i could see it happening in some avenue, but it didn't, so i'd be shocked given Toho's stance on crossovers over the past few years. Really i think Del Toro has probably been asked this question 1000x at interviews, so at this point he's just saying what he knows people want to hear

I, too, doubt the possibility - but if it happens? I'm all for it!

Look at the enthusiasm this idea has been greeted with on the internet. It's the equivalent to the curiosity people had for Godzilla fighting established monsters like King Kong or Mothra back in the day.

I too am doubtful that a Godzilla and Pacific Rim crossover would happen, but as long as the crossover idea is in the air how about Gamera?

Kadokawa has been actively interested in doing a crossover movie with Toho in the past, and presumably Kadokawa would be interested in other good potential crossover possibilities. A crossover with Pacific Rim would be a great way to reintroduce Gamera to US & Canadian audiences that was comparatively low risk assuming PR2 does well enough to warrant a third picture in the franchise. Further, if Gamera proves popular with audiences in a crossover movie Legendary could pursue a Gamera movie (or movie series).

^ Plus: GDT loves Gamera. I think the Showa Gamera influence is especially strong in the PacRim fight scenes.

I like the idea of there being a kaiju native to Earth who fights alongside the Jaegers against the invaders.
