A bit too small? Hmmm... maybe, but I can understand that the originals were big to the point of being cumbersome (which led to a few gags back in the day).

I like that the pack looks homemade and I'm just glad that the jumpsuits and tech will basically retain their iconic looks.

I like the design decisions so far. The uniforms still look like something you would see someone wear when they collect your bins or deal with a roach infestation, as they should. I also like that the new packs look like they've been hammered together in a garage.

As for a Ghostbusters expanded universe, I just see it as more chances that one of the new entries will be good. Unless one of them really is a Jump Street crossover; that idea needs to die.

...I know I'll probably catch some flak for it, but I go ahead and say it anyways. (No 21 Jump Street crossover though, that's got bad idea all over it)

I can actually see a Ghostbusters-MiB crossover working out pretty well. The two properties share a similar balance of action & comedy and seem like they could mesh well together --

SCENE: MIB headquarters -- the facility is being overrun aliens, they seem unstoppable, and the damage is mounting.

J -- K! We've got a problem! My shots are going right through these aliens, even the noisy cricket is ineffective!

K -- Hold your fire, these aliens are intangible because they're ghosts.

J -- Alien ghosts? Do we have anything that can take them down?

K -- Give me a minute, it's time to call in the experts.

J -- Who you gonna call?

Sony, throwing everything at the wall hoping something sticks and becomes a franchise.

Ugh, it always bothers me when I look back at a post I made sometime ago and see all the dropped words, misspellings, etc.

I guess we'll see how this animated Ghostbusters movie pans out. The movie could be good but at the same time it's like you said XvGojira and Sony throwing everything against the wall to see what sticks. If nothing else, I do like how the studios appear to be considering animation as a viable alternative for some types of movies.

My son just got a new Lego Catalogue. A bunch of really cool GB Lego sets coming out. All of them based on the originals however...
There are no more good TV Shows, only ones that haven't disappointed me yet.

lol jesus christ that looks awful.

It's a remake of Ghostbusters with women that have nothing funny to do or say.

Here is how I would have remade Ghostbusters (no joke) :

Take the cast from Always Sunny in Philadelphia and have them interact with ghosts. Frank (Danny Devito's character) would end up letting all the ghosts out to play poker games with and go to strip clubs. Ghosts like Adolf Hitler, John Wayne Gacy and whoever would be offensive to bring up. Also Mac has sex with a male ghost but doesn't think it is gay because they are dead so it doesn't count. Causes a big to do among the gang. They don't actually save the city, they just make it worse. There. That 2 seconds of thought is a better idea than this whole thoughtless movie.

I know it is presumptuous of me to kill the movie before it comes out but it WREAKS cliches and bad lines.

Somehow the trailer feels more like the Ghostbusters cartoon than the original film. Does that make sense? Like, the movie was comedy first and supernatural adventure second, and the cartoon was supernatural adventure with a wacky veneer. This trailer makes the new film look more like the latter approach.

This film looks lazy and aspires to be the lowest common denominator of humor. If I watch this, it'll be because I am at a friend's place who decided to start playing it or morbid curiosity got the better of me after seeing it in Netflix staring at me for months and months and months.

It's not a good a trailer, but SONY isn't the smartest movie studio in the pack and Paul Feig's done some good stuff in the past, so I'll wait 'till I have more info to make a decision.

Slimer looks neat, though.

Not a single thing in that trailer makes me want to put my butt into a theater seat. :( I gave up on a Ghostbuster sequel I wanted to see being made when Harold Ramis passed away. I didn't have high hopes for this one and it looks like those hopes won't be exceeded. Netflix somewhere down the line when I'm morbidly curious.

It really turns me off that the dry humor from the first couple of films seems to be "exorcised" completely. This strikes me as the most offensive piece (or lack of a piece) in the trailer. The original film's entire atmosphere and demeanor was based on this sort of dry, would-be situational comedy that slid into a larger scope. The tone is completely gone.

In its place is "humor" that looks like every other bottom tier, indistinguishable comedy that rolls by these days. The kind of stuff popularized by Will Ferrell awkwardly trying to carry a movie by making up lines on the spot. Or Napoleon Dynamite's excruciatingly uncomfortable beats where better writers would put real comedy. The only reason this will likely be distinguishable is because its using the Ghostbusters trademark throughout.

Forget what this movie looks like it's doing to the franchise, what it's attempting on its own looks putrid.

First off there's no reason why this couldn't have been a sequel, with just about everyone from the first movie cameo-ing and all.

But other than stilts and slimer, all the ghosts were just glowy slightly transparent floating people. That Time Square scene looked like if Spielberg did a Lucas-esque Special edition of the opening of the Ark of the Covenant. Where as the OG GBs had some .

And I dislike the new Ecto-1 and it's only because 80's designs of those kind of cars look like crap. I mean if this was at a con that a fan made I'd say damn good effort and be able to appreciate it. But as an official vehicle, it's awful.

But the thing is, I'm such a masochistic schmuck that I'll be seeing this in the theater. I don't have a right to complain and moan about how bad this movie really is with out actually seeing it.
