I don't know what all the article says but the preview images look fantastic. It really looks like we're finally getting the return to form the Ultra series has needed for awhile now. I am so ridiculously psyched. DEM MINIATURES.

Ultraman X will be on Crunchyroll!!!! Starting tomorrow Crunchyroll will simulcast Ultraman X at 3:30 am Pacific time.

A pretty good start! Good use of practical and digital f/x, and a new universe. An enjoyable first episode. I loved Daichi's reaction to becoming Ultraman! I am looking forward to the next episode w/Birdon.

I tried watching some original Ultraman (or Ultra Q? Whatever hulu has) and just couldn't get into it for what ever reason. Watching it, I know I should be into it, but eh it just wasn't grabbing me.

But this? Hot diggity damn! I'm sure it's just me being a fan of giant monsters, but what person in their right mind wouldn't want to dub this and toss it on to a Saturday morning time slot?

So I'm going to give the original another shot while I wait for the next episode. Or does anyone have any suggestions for a good starting point? I feel like this is going to be like Dr Who for me, tried watching from the start and couldn't stand the first episodes/story arcs but after catching up to Tennent's run, my roomies netflix'ed some older Who and it was great.

Only seen like half or more of the first episode, but 'Oh Yeah' this is more like it. Definitely worth watchin. :mrgreen:

@XvGojira ~ I would like to recommend a few more modern series such as Ultraman Tiga, Gaia, Max and Nexus, Sir. Most of these show are widely different enough for your viewing enjoyment.

Ultraman X didn't do anything insane to change the usual formula, but that's fine. Typical first episode but it didn't screw up anything either. The effects look great, the concepts were fine, and it even managed to make me take Spark Dolls as a major part of the plot seriously. I suspended disbelief for... Spark Dolls. Hell yeah I'll be watching more.

Second episode preview:

At first I was whatever about Birdon returning. Big deal, seen Birdon plenty of times now since Mebius. Now I'm excited because it's a NESTING Birdon. If they keep finding interesting new stories to tell about old monsters like this seems to be, I won't mind at all if we get mostly returning monsters instead of tons of new ones.
