i am so confused. weren't the poor sales on this figure the first time around the rational for not venturing further into Showa?

^ I would guess that since the sculpt is the same as the original, the cost of this repaint is a good way for Tamashii to gauge how well Showa would sell without the risk of making a new figure....at least from their perspective.

It doesn't look bad at all, and I think the deco looks better here. I'll pick one up for my cousin because he missed out on the original 64 and he's been bugging me for mine.

October/November for me though is almost all Dragon Ball Z Figuarts tho. Sailor V is also a thing, so it's not a priority for me. Pretty sure we'll get new stuff come 2016.

It would have been nice if they had at least fixed the freaking gaps.

BTW, what Dragon Ball stuff is coming out in Nov? I haven't seen anything beyond the Ressurection F crap. It would be nice if they would get to freaking Boo and Majin Vegeta already.

What has me interested is the Resurrection of Freeza stuff which is around that time. Also Ultimate Gohan is in October. I don't know anything about Super Buu or anything else, though I'm betting that's just a matter of time. It's been a pretty good year for DB Figuarts.

I hope for a Cell Saga (jeans, vest, and white shirt), or Buu Saga (jeans, black and white shirt) Android 18 retool because I missed my chance on 18.

Also, I'm totally with you on Showa MG. It's Mechagodzilla. The most recognizable one (in the West anyway) at that. It should sell. I don't think this redeco is bad, it's just... not on my list of things to get right away.

...At the very least we know Godzilla 2016 is a shoe-in.

I'm okay with the repaints, my wallet is okay with the repaints. At least it has a breath accessory. That's cool.

I'm ok with repaints...mainly because I don't have to save for anything else. I assume that Godzilla 2016 will be a given next year, and aside from that Showa MG seems likely.

Repaints will allow me to get some X Plus stuff instead.

i could get behind something like a glow in the dark or transparent vinyl variant. Something that is so different it fundamentally changes the figure despite being the same sculpt.

::EDIT:: Oh man! i know what i want... a transparent vinyl Kiryu with a Gojira skeleton inside!! Somebody make that happen

I'd rather they gave us an actual Showa Rodan, or hell, even the Final Wars one, over a repaint of the lackluster Heisei one.

The Milllenium ones I want are Kiryu Goji, SOS Mothra, GMK Godzilla, and GMK Baragon.

^Even better: along with the head, add a Mothra larva and maybe a rock for Godzilla to throw at Ghidorah, while ditching the plastic stand and pathetic looking atomic ray. There you go, a figure that's still 75% reuse while still being something brand new that everyone would buy.

But Tamashii doesn't care. They know people are going to buy this nonsense anyway.
