Those Marvel scenes are quite amusing, but largely insignificant to the plot(s).

IF Toho were to return to the Kiryu timeline, they would probably need to sell it hard. We don't know how audiences might react to an already established timeline that they likely aren't invested in yet.

I don't worry about the quality of the Toho films as much as I have in the past. Yeah, they feel like an attempt to cash grab during off years for the LP franchise (assuming we go beyond a Godzilla 2), but at least they'll have more time to prep if nothing else. I'd say they're just coming up with what the film will be right now (same questions people are asking now...Will it look like Legend-Goji? Will it be completely different?). I don't expect ANYTHING until...I dunno maybe early 2016 (assuming they'll do a winter release as per usual). Even then, I just expect a title (tentative or otherwise) and maybe a promotional artwork poster.

People keep getting anxious but...this is how I remember the Millennium films going... 1. Announcement/title early part of year 2. Summer would bring production photos or somesuch 3. Trailers (late summer-early fall). I expect a little more information given this is a very different time of information than 2004, 2003, 2002, or 2001 (didn't follow G2k and GXM's development) but I still expect a similar-ish schedule.

I would dig a suit version of the Legendary G design, but that would probably confuse things

An entirely new Godzilla design will be created for this new series undoubtedly. That is always the most interesting development from my perspective because of the discussion it generates.

The DNA scene was a lead up to a third massive Mecha-kaiju movie before Toho decided to go with Final Wars. But it's no different than the earthquake in GxM's ending that basically says Godzilla's not dead. It's just another set up for a sequel/Godzilla can't die stinger. Its importance kind of hinges on whether a sequel is made or not.

GxM might have the worst ending to any Godzilla movie.

The non-post-credit ending is so bad it's hilarious. And then the post-credit ending is just...I guess that kid dies at school, huh?

Off screen the boy was tracked down by two of the Meganulons and violently ripped in half, his still screaming torso was then held under water till it stopped moving and the only sound heard was that of gently lapping water. His corpse was later harvested and fed to Megaguirus. Actually it was kind of silly to feature him as one of the main characters and then forget about him. I never thought about that. In fact they could have almost completely cut his character out of the movie and just had the egg hatch in the puddle in the woods.

I think Biollante could work, with only slight tinkering, her origin story is amorphous enough to be re-tooled and re-worked, and if we're gonna get moar Toho monsturz, I'd rather it be some we've seen more sparingly than Ghidorah. Space Godzilla and especially Destoroyah seem so tied to those origins, it doesn't make sense to bring them back. Stripping away the Oxygen Destroyer from Destoroyah takes away the only thing about him that's good.

So...this has been floating around on Facebook. Apparently Higuchi is doing effects and Hideaki Anno is writing and directing. I hope it's not a cruel April Fool's joke, but I believe that website is legit.

The reason I watch Godzilla films is because of Godzilla, the other monsters, and all the chaos that ensues. There is no better SPFX Director that I can imagine for this film...Higuchi would have been my choice. I like EVA enough to be ok with Anno writing and directing.

I'm stoked!

Now instead of guess who might be the best for the job we can start arguing as to why these are bad choices and who should have been hired instead! YAAAAAAAAAAAAY!

Honestly, these are some big names Toho us throwing at us. Also, its says 12 2016...so December 2016 then? Highly impressed with Tohos patience with this. They need to release this to a bigger crowd then just Japan to make this thing a big hit.
