Katie Cassidy isn't a bad actress, Laurel is just a HORRENDOUS character. Her sole purpose is apparently to just be a complete idiot, run into every situation without even stopping for a second to think, and screw things up even worse than they were before so that Oliver, Thea, or whoever has to run in and fix things because Laurel screwed the pooch. Laurel's the worst.

Meanwhile, Candice Patton (Iris) is a pretty weak actress, Rick Cosnett (Eddie) strikes me as wildly insincere and though she was only in one episode Kelly Frye (Plastique) was ATROCIOUS. I also just feel like, I've been watching The Flash now for 10 episodes or so (I'm not caught up yet) and I know so little about MOST of the side characters. Iris is a blogger? I guess? I don't even really know much about her other than she's oblivious. Caitlin had a fiance and is fairly cold, and Cisco...is comic relief? Seriously, I know NOTHING about Cisco's actual character.

Yeah, I hate Laurel so much. I really hope she ends up dead.

So with Ras' "I want you to take over", my mind is just screaming "WHY IS THIS NOT BATMAN?!".

I'll admit my knowledge of the character is limited to just Justice League Unlimited but I'm seriously wondering how much of this show is actual Green Arrow and how much is Batman with a Bow. Like how much is Bats influencing this version of Green Arrow. It just seems like if Batman ever did show up in the show, he'd be uber-God-like Batman to like a ridiculous degree.

But I'm only 4 episodes into The Flash and I'm so ready to have a live action TV Justice League.

There are some definite Batman similarities and it's not difficult to just sit back and say, "They wish this was Batman" but there are also differences.

Oliver is more mentally stable and happy than Bruce Wayne, he gets into it for different reasons, he's not against killing when there is no other option, he's much more willing to rely on his team, he's less guarded about his secret identity, he's got a more complex love life, these days he's poor....

I think the biggest differences though lie in their motivations and thus the core of what they are:
Oliver still had a great life to return to but chose not to, and never really realized how big this all would become and is sorta getting dragged along for the ride sometimes.
Bruce had everything ripped away from him and thus looked to vigilantism as an outlet and has always known all along how deep and dark everything would go and how far his crusade would take him.

There have always been comparisons between GA and Batman since forever ago. Hell, I have an issue from the 60s that has Bruce thinking about revealing his identity to Ollie while Ollie is thinking about revealing his identity to Bruce because each one of them thinks maybe talking it through with another playboy billionaire will help.

And I know this is a tad far off, but if they go beyond 5 seasons do you think they'll keep the format of having some flashback story that parallels and supplements the current episode's story? Since it seems each season's flashbacks last a year after 5 years he'd be off the island.

Although Supergirl isn't a part of the Arrow/Flash CW Universe. At least that's what I remember reading.

Uh what are you guys talking about? DC has made it so that Supergirl can cross over with Arrow and Flash. I'll have to find the article, but DC is now putting in their contracts that all of their shows going forward are part of a shared universe. In fact, rumor has it that if Constantine does get renewed, they are going to work with NBC to make this also open for Constantine.

From what I've read there's going to be a DC TV-universe ( building on Arrow & Flash) and a DC Movie-universe, and never the twain shall meet. E.G. whenever we get a Movie Barry Allen he'll be a different character from TV Barry Allen.

In contrast, starting with Agents of SHIELD the Marvel live action television shows are a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so when Sif shows up on AoS, she's the same character that we see in the Thor movies (and even played by the same actress).

I think the Supergirl costume looks... kind of terrific. This is the most classical, traditional superhero costume we've seen in live action since, I don't know, since forever. The way the S shield was handled is so much better than both Superman Returns and Man of Steel

I don't know, I think Season 3 has been better than the last season. Yeah, there are some mis-steps, but even S2 had a few of those. The only issue I have is that the flashbacks lately do not seem to have anything to do with what is going on in the present as they did with the first two seasons.
