So this is the latest (and greatest?) KaijuZoo figure. It's a mod and paint to the M1 figure of everyone’s favorite Danish giant monster, Reptilicus.
Following the Danish release of the film Reptilicus in 1961 and prior to the US release in 1962, Charlton Comics released 2 issues of Reptilicus (the first issue covering the same story of the not yet released US film). However after their rights to Reptilicus lapsed, Charlton changed the name for subsequent issues (3-8 and a one-shot) to Reptisaurus. In order to avoid getting into legal trouble they further changed the creature's coloring to red and made a number of changes to his design. The original Charlton Reptilicus has was similar to the film version though he had teeth but no claws, then for 5 issues he had no teeth and no claws, then in the last 3 issues he had teeth, claws and a newly added horn.
Jonee (KaijuZoo) and i sent pictures of comic panel’s back and forth pulling elements that would work best with the sculpt. He did the red skin with two shades and then a dark red wash in the scales to bring out their contrast, and a yellowish red to highlight the wing texture. He did bone color for the teeth and claws and added a custom horn to complete the look of Reptisaurus during his final 3 issues. The final step was to give it a matte finish which puts it in the spirit of print comics.
I’m definitely happy with how it came out and it looks fantastic next to my custom Charlton Ditko Gorgo figures KaijuZoo did for me (

Simply fantastic.
