I am A-OK with Neill Blomkamp's flick being a follow-up to Aliens that ignores Alien 3 and Alien: Resurrection. I've been ignoring those movies for years.

Plus, didn't Prometheus already do this? Making Peter Weyland the founder of the Weyland Corporation who lives late into the 21st century directly contradicted Alien vs. Predator, which itself retconned Alien 3 by having Lance Henrickson's Weyland character die in 2004.

Prometheus (and its eventual sequel), the original Alien, Aliens, and now Blomkamp's Alien. I think that sounds like a much better chronology than one involving A3, A:R, or the AVP films.

Alien: Resurrection is my second-favorite after the original, honestly, but I'm so used to Japanese franchises doing stuff like this that I am completely unfazed by it.

I want the film to retcon the last 30 minutes of Alien, 15 minutes of Aliens, 25 seconds of Alien 3, Minutes 1-25 and 56-77 of Alien Resurrection and the Special Features for the Alien Versus Predator Movies.
Everything else stays.
