Really would like Liam Neeson. Maybe the brother of Fords father...like Ford wants to get involved again but his uncle intervenes who thought his younger brother was crazy tells Ford to stay with his family and he'll investigate Monarch in his brothers name. Kind of a way not to throw the Brodys out of the window...but moving on from ATJ but who will still make brief appearances.

Liam Neeson is the man!

If they really want ATJ back, just don't advertise him!

As much as I LOVE Neeson, I do have some trouble seeing him sign to a Godzilla movie. I'd love to be wrong, but I just don't see it. Personally, I'd just be happy with the movie focusing on Serizawa and his assistant, whatever her name was.

I am not opposed to a "name" actor being brought in to lend credibility or draw a larger audience - as long as this person is made to explicitly understand before a single frame of film is shot that they are there to support Godzilla and the monster action and that GODZILLA is the 'star' of the movie, NOT the human actor!!!!!!!! In this I feel that Neeson would be a fairly good choice. He's done genre stuff like 'Darkman' and the recent 'Titans' films, so he's not "above" such material. Certainly he has the gravity and intesity to make even the most outlandish, impossible circumstances seem like totally believable life or death stuff. That's a crucial element in a film series such as Godzilla. (Besides, since the 2 'Titans' films were done by Legendary they likely have his name on speed dial and have previously established a positive working relationship.)

Honestly, I'd much prefer the casting of top-shelf character actors in these films rather than 'stars,' since the prima donna crap can get in the way of what really counts, which is the best possible movie, not the best way for a 'star' to get his or her mug the most screen time, i.e. the insistance of RDJ and Tobey Maguire to have The Mask come off more the half the time so that they get their uncovered puss front & center for max exposure. Ugh. Give me someone like Gene Hackman or Gary Oldman, or an excellent modern example would be Jake Gyllenhaal. These guys disappear in the service of the part, inhabiting their roles completely, and the end result is a fully-realized character who's part of the movie rather than a "movie star" that's just acting in a movie.

Totally out of left field, but I say get Paul McCartney. We already had John Lennon in the first movie in the guise of Aaron Taylor-Johnson, so I say let's get Paul (if they can get Ringo instead, I'd be cool with that as well).

I have 2 hopes for the next film -

1) That Edwards plays up the monster scenes this time and abandons the slow burn idea. I don't think audiences want that again. I know I don't. Edwards could use some build up to a certain extent - introducing monsters in new ways and building suspense about Rodan and KG would be easy to do since both monsters fly - but let us see some city destruction and military action. I want a full blown monster rampage.

2) That the characters are better. The characters were serviceable in G14, but no one besides Cranston really stood out (and they killed him off too early IMO).

Actually, I would just be happy with more day scenes. Mr. Edwards and Mr. Del Toro - the fans are yearning for that!

Awesome! Now all they need to do is get a great script going, get Michael Keaton to star (but don't kill him off after 30min), don't bring back Aaron Taylor Johnson and don't do quick cuts :D
